Toshiba SD-220E My Toshiba SD-220E DVD player is permanently on standby. No amount of button pressing will make the power light turn green. I've had the cover off and checked the input fuse is OK, but that is about as far as i've got. Any ideas would be welcomed.

I too have the same problem and have now bought a replacement DVD recorder but meanwhile will keep trying to fix the Toshiba. Reading Jensen's solution I checked my power board and Q823 is physically intact so I can report that it is labelled A1585 and underneath S RH.
I would be interested to know whether that fixes it.
Good luck.

Same problem here.
Just examined the inside of the player and found an exploded transistor. It is located on the PC-POWER-220E PCB and is called Q823 here. I need to replace that one and hopefully the player will work again. Does anyone have the service manual to this player and can tell me the spesifications of the Q823? It's exploded here and I can only see the two last numers there... that is "...85".
Regards,
Jensen

Have you tried unplugging the player completly for 2 minutes? Plug it back in and try again. Also, you could try a new remote code or just replacing the system. P.S. some players have a cap/switch or button that needs to be removed or pushed in order to accept input.

Will not turn on

There are many reassons why this may happen. First of all try to press play directly. You may want to try to press the on buttone itself, mayber there is a problem in the remote control.
