All of a sudden I have no sound and the touchscreen does not work. Appears that eveerything else works properly.I have tried all the diagnostics and they do not work for touchscreen nor sound :( Magellan wants $144.95 to fix. I can get a replacement on Ebay for less.
Is there a reset or anything else I can do? Is there a more reasonable place to get it repaired?
Thanks in Advance
Maybe someone knows a place to get "Cannabilized" parts and I could replace the board. Maybe somebody destroyed the case or screen or something. I'd apprecate any input!Maybe someone knows a place to get "Cannabilized" parts and I could replace the board. Maybe somebody destroyed the case or screen or something. I'd apprecate any input!

Re:
A single IC chip controls both the sound and touchscreen. More then likely, something has malfunctioned with that IC since neither are working. You should just get a new one.
The IC CAN be changed, but like you said, you'd have to find a different mainboard to jack it from. thanks for the rating.. ;)The IC CAN be changed, but like you said, you'd have to find a different mainboard to jack it from. thanks for the rating.. ;)

If the touchscreen no longer works, she would need a new digitizer on her unit. Call magellan customer service to get an RMA set up to replace the digitizer.
It seems that Magellan is not good with the power connectors on their
units, I believe the problem is with the power adapter plugged into the
cradle. Sorry I have no information about a repair center. Usually for
an absorbent amount of money, Magellan will repair.
I have an extra unit. I don't have the magellan road mate manager. I would be willing to trade the whole unit if you could get me the magellan road mate manager cd. I hear there is another one that comes with it that would be great to have also. I have tried everything to get these cds but to no avail. comment here or email me at [email protected] if you are willing to do this.
I had the same problem and solved it by plugging the USB cable into the device, powered it up, went into the "Magellan Roadmate Manager", clicked on "Settings" and then clicked on "Voice Options" and my sound came back.
Won't say that it will work for you, but it did for me. Worth a try!
You'll have to obtain a copy of the Magellan Roadmate manager disks, load them into your computer, connect the GPS to your computer using the USB cable and the use the "Roadmate Manger settings" to change the language.
New unit or can the IC be changed?
Magellan wants $144.95 to send in for repair.
Thanks
