My son psp beep when you put a game in and the umd does not come up can you help please

f you are experiencing issues when using a Universal Media Disc (UMDâ„¢) on the PSP system, try these troubleshooting options:

  • Issues with PlayStation®Store content Click here for help with content purchased from the PlayStation Store.
  • Restore Default Settings Restore Default settings will default the PSP system to its original settings. A setting change may be the reason the PSP system is having difficulties. Click here to learn how to restore default settings on the PSPgo / PSP system.
  • Confirm UMD is properly inserted

Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
Please note, it is normal for the PSP system to make noises while it is reading from a UMD.

For PSP-1001, slide the latch to open the UMD door. For the PSP-2001 and PSP-3001, simply lift the door open.

  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system If possible, try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the disc still does not function properly, it might need to be replaced. If the disc does function properly, the PSP system may need service, see PSP Service for details.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system If possible, try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Check for moisture Do not let the PSP system or any PSP® accessories come in contact with liquid. Also check for moisture condensation in the PSP system. If moisture condensation occurs, remove the disc from the PSP and do not use the PSP until the condensation has evaporated, which can take an hour or two. In general, if any part of the PSP gets wet, discontinue use until it is completely dry.
  • Check the regional code Check the regional code on the UMDâ„¢ Video. The only regional codes that the North American PSP® is tested to work properly with are "ALL" and "1.

My PSP doesn't seem to read the UMD's I put in...no icon shows up under the game symbol on the mian menu...please shed some ligt on this for me. thanks

make sure the UMD is not dirty or scratch or damage in any way. make sure the lens is clean. if your psp is able to read other UMD's then it would mean that the UMD is damaged. if PSP is not able to read other UMD's then you would need to get the lens replaced.

My sons psp game menu is not showing the umd option what is wrong with it cheers

If memory serves (I lost my PSP while moving) the UMD menu only appears when a UMD is inserted and recognized. If a UMD is inserted but the menu does not come up then either the UMD is bad or the laser is defective.

Psps does load any discs

Ok Crowd,

All of you need to send your PSP off for repair. The UMD drives not reading is common fault of the PSP and the drive will need to be replaced. The power on Problem is possiblly a defective motherboard. They can be repaired.

Click on "Repair Directory" at the bottom of this screen. Then select "Video Game Consoles" on the next screen. Pick a good REpair shop that has experience in repairing PSP's. Ask them if they know what a UMD is. Then Ask them if they have ever replaced a UMD drive. If so they know what they are doing. Find a good price

Where is the UMD?

UMD is Universal Media Disc, its a small disc are used for PSP.  press the "eject" button on the top to open the disc tray. Usually the problem its not from the UMD, but from the console.

The first check the version you are running on psp, >> Go to the PSP Menu and move across to the "Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" >> "System Information" and you should see version of your PSP. If the UMD has a high version than ur console, u need to update ur psp.
