CNET CSH 2400 24 PORT SWITCH - LINKING TWO UNITS

Good afternoon I have recently purchased two of the above units to link our warehousing and administrative offices together. All pc's connected on each switch see each other but the two switches do not. There is no led lit up to show the link. The cable connecting the two units is approx 65 meters long and is connected through patch panels with patch leads at either end. If I connect the two units together using a 1 meter cable I get a link. Is there a problem with this sort of length of cable? Please could you assist in trying to sort this out. I get a link if I connect my old 10 base T hub but then speed in reduced. Your help and ideas would be really appreciated. Brinjal

You might be having problem in following area 1. Check the cable first. You can use the cabe tester. If cale tester is not available then chek the cable with multimeter. 2. Check the port wher you have inserted the patch cord. It should be in uplink port of first hub and normal port of second hub. Try this and revert back with results.

Don't know about a special program, but you can try to use Centrastage (www.centrastage.com)
It's a remote management software and it seems like it can be useful for you.

Switches arnt not detectable by the computer, a switch allows you to link multiple pcs togethers that sit on the same domain/workgroup , and also network subnet, the other lights will come one when you connect a RJ45 cable between the unit and a PC to show a port is in use.

How do i disable dhcp in a cnet 8 port switch?

Hi!
I should mention that network switches don't have any ability to assign IP addresses. In other words, they can't act as DHCP servers - therefore there's nothing to disable!
If your network has a router (or a modem-router), configurations should be made in it...

BTW, you can disable DHCP in Windows (i.e. assigning a fixed IP address to each computer on the network) but following this (the part that should interest you has the title "If Your Router Doesn't Let You Set Static Local IPs").

Check the power adapter with a multi-meter. The voltage on the plug that connects into the Ethernet switch, the voltage reading should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter.
If the voltage is zero or very low then the adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the voltage of the adapter is OK then the Ethernet switch is faulty and you need to buy a new one.

check out those link but i was also using that switch but it is not upto the level,i must say it is a entry level mini switch;i don't denied that D-Link is a very good company and i am using there seven of their 48 port switch now;but for this particular product;i don't recommend.

Don't have internet connection

This particular 8-port Ethernet switch/hub has auto-negotiation on both speed as well as MDI, MDI-X. Therefore, the problem is not with your switch/hub, it's probably with the particular port that you're connecting it to on your Router. Make sure that it's the LAN side, not the WAN side.
