SOURCE: need to replace drive belt on cutting deck and
You will have to disconnect the deck from the tractor. There might be
some rods hanging down by the pulley on the motor. You have to loosen
those not remove. Then install the new belt with the inside of belt (V)
into the pulleys. The outside of belt (flat side) goes up against any
idlers (oversized pulleys). Once you get the belt routed properly the
belt will be snug in the pulleys. If you have excess play you have to
use trial and error to get the belt routed the right way around the
idlers.
Once belt is on reattach the deck and tighten the rods by the motor
that keeps the belt from coming off. They need to be close but not
touching the engine pulley.
Good luck and let me know if this helps.

you may have missed it but the diagram is on the deck , look closely you should see it, anyway it should look like an upside down t if you were siting and looking at it from the drivers position. you should have to remove only one pin to get the belt on and it would be on the right side of the deck

SOURCE: Electric Clutch want engage the mower deck on my l120 john deere
They wear out. How old is the mower? Mine just gave out this week in the peak of hay season. (my grass) The wire can be unhooked from the PTO clutch and a 12 volt jumper can test it, if it jumps, it is good, if not, it is shorted out, they are expensive, I found 3 of them all the wrong size for mine. Try to find the same one. Ebay has a couple on there right now. Check it out.
