Disk drive A couple of days ago when i put in a cd to rip to my computer the sound from the cd being played was a bit slow like the disk drive wasn't fast enough to read the disk, but once i had ripped the songs from the cd they played perfectly because they were on the hard drive. I tried just playing a cd again without ripping it and i still had the same problem, the speakers would make a slight crackling sound and the sound would slow down and skip every one or two seconds. i then put a dvd in and the same problem occurred and this time with the picture. ( this is with windows media player and intervideo windvd.) My computer also has a separate dvd program which can be started without starting up windows and i put a dvd on there and it worked perfectly.

There may have been a Windows update that corruptdated one of your Windows Media Player files. Check for spyware or a virus. WMP is usually an avenue for thay sort of thing. Check for updats to all software involved. You may also consider doing a firmware update if they have one. Good Luck, Tim

Anyone on here have any experience with the nova fidelity X12 cd ripper and network media server and player? It’s working but when ripping cds it comes up with read errors however plays cds no bother,...

I guess you meant ripping store bought CDDA, ;discs. right>?
compact disk-Digital Audio, disks as see in WALFart. music department. right?
first off CD players can skip error playing CDDA will try to play even with scratches, and the data is repeated if you read the spec, on CDDA, but a scratch that is long in the direction of the spin
that will be BAD DATA! and if you rip a CD , it will not like scratches at all. this is COMMON.
Hint bad disks don't rip.

you have 5 choices. (I think I got them all)
A new CDDA disk, with no scratches., duh factor 1:
B: have the disk professional polished, (yes this is a service)
C: try a new CD DISK DRIVE, in your PC, some work better with scratches, or buy a portable CD/DVD USB player it may work better.

D: try a 2nd PC for same reasons of C:

E: try other ripping APPS< some may work better with scratched CDs./? many are free, costs zero to try.

It is running very slow . It can't read a little bit old cd\ dvd. When a cd/dvd is inserted system has encounted a problem amd hang up for several minutes .............. and it can't burn disc...

This sounds like a simple problem to fix. You need to get a cd/dvd cleaner disk and place it in the drive. Allow the disk to perform as indicated by the audio instructions included on the disk. All modern lens cleaning disks have the audio instructions that play as the disk is in the machine, so that the customer knows what to do, and in what order to do it in.

After running the disk, get a NEW blank cd, and try to burn some files onto it. If it works right, then that was all that was wrong, if not, then you have corrupted firmware, which is also a relatively easy procedure to fix. Just go to the drive manufacturers website and download the latest firmware fore your drive.

How do you erase songs on a CD? I put songs on a CD and would like them to be clear of the CD.

If you wrote to a 'CD-R' disk, then you cannot "erase", because it is "write-once-read-many".

In the unlikely case that you wrote to a CD/RW ("rewritable") disk, you can _erase_ the entire disk.

So, in both cases, you need to "rip" the "good' tracks from the CD, writing to your 'C:' drive, and then write a new CD-R disk.

Take a pair of scissors to the "old' CD-R disk, so that nobody can play the music on that disk.

Audio video doesnt play smooth, it's jittery. cpu usage of player goes 40-60%. windows xp prof service pack 3. all acer travelmate audio video drivers. acer travelmate 4000 notebook

Does this happen only when viewing online audio/video, as opposed to inserting a music-CD into your CD-drive, and using Windows Media Player to play the music?

If so, then how fast is your Internet connection?
It probably is too slow to download and play at the same time.
So, when you click on a YouTube video, click "pause",
and let the download proceed for a minute or two,
and then click "play", to play what has been downloaded.

I tried to make an exact copy of a CD via Sony Vaio but the copy is messed up. Certain cuts sound scratched. The original CD is clean and plays normally. Does my CD drive need fixing? It (software)...

What type of CD did you copy? Different CD types have different methods for copying them (Example: a music CD has multiple tracks to copy; better to rip them then reburn them onto a blank disk; a DVD disk has multiple data, video and audio files protected on the disk, a straight copy wont work). Based on your question, you tried copying a music CD. Use a program like Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or iTunes to rip the disk, then copy the ripped tracks to a blank disk. All three of these programs are free, and there are tons of other free alternatives out there to do this.

Trying to install C&C 3 tiberium wars disk error

Are you using an iso mounting program like alcohoal or iso buster, or Nero Iso, it sounds like you are having a problem with failing to unmount some virtual drives, otherwis it wouldn't be up to G, how many drives are in the case. click on my computer and tell me what drives you see that you don't physically have. Unmount the ones you arent using and it should default back to :D, or E, if you have 2 dvd drives

I have an HP Touchsmart computer. When I put a data or audio CD in my DVD/CD drive, it sounds like it is going to start up, the light comes on like it is going to run, but nothing happens. Sometimes, it...

CDs means totally nothing. sorry....
what CD? , a CD-R? CD-RW, or a store bought CDDA disk
all 3 are different. (or DVD? of vast types too...)
my guess you meant CD-R. (CD record-able)
TouchSmart IQ770 PC Desktop? 2007 carbon date?

what OS, XP, VISTA or W7?

My guess its bad media or bad CD drive.
only way to prove that is use new CD-R burned on good system slow.
say using the great free utility called, imgburn.

first try a real disk, from a store, from the Music section
called CD-DA disk, play it , if it plays the CD drive might be ok.
then try what I call rubber disks, recordable. CD-R
using pro grade disk burned correctly.
buying the cheapest media can be a nightmare. here.

tell HP your OS
the as an example (i guessed OS, means operating system)
install this up date, called HP HP Personal and Pocket Media Drive Driver Update

here.
