Your backup battery has gone dead. Check your manual to see if it is replaceable, or if it needs to be replaced by a repair shop. I have a C-750 on my bench now in for repair, and I do not see a customer-replaceable backup battery. I do not know if this applies to the C-755, but the C-750 requires disassembly to replace this cell. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Olympus E-510 Flash & Auto-Focus Problems

Sounds like the main circuit board has got problems. If its under warranty use the manufacturer. But if not a camear store should be able to provide a quote. I admit that the repair will be about 150-180 because of the time involved in replacing the board and possibly the flash unit.
But quotes before bankruptcy..

Flash-Off Problem

Do you have the camera in the auto mode?
Did you check to make sure that the auto focus is not in the manual mode when the flash is turned off?

If the above does not comply, call the tech support for the camera.

There is also a possibity that there is a defect, or that the flash is part of the auto focus function.

Olympus C-765 does not focus

Dear Benjamin,

I also own an olympus c765 and was wondering how to use the manual focus option when I came across your post. Actually I have been wondering whether manual focus is of any use in an olympus c765 because the manual does not talk anything about it.
However, I just found out that there is a way of activating/deactivating manual focus. Here it goes:
1. Turn the camera on
2. Switch to any mode - portrait/landscape etc
3. Press and hold the 'OK' button on the centre for a second until you see a MF/AF option on the screen
4. Switch to MF and focus on any subject by pressing the up/down keys.

Most likely, your camera has been turned to Manual Focus option, which is why it is not focussing any more. Follow the steps above and turn it back to Auto Focus option and let me know if your problem gets solved.

My Olympus 740 digital camera does not auto focus any more. I can make it focus for the most part by zooming in, but is there anything I can do to make it start up focused? I had another Olympus camera...

Take it off manual focus? There may be an "all reset" option in one of the menus that makes the camera factory default whenever its turned on, usually this is full auto mode. If the camera will only focus when the zoom is used, there may be a secondary lens inside the lens barrel that is not moving as it should. Time to service it if that is the case.

Auto Focus Problem

Way to check settings is to take the batteries out for a while, it should revert to factory default settings. I tell a lot of People to try this, it works an amazing number of times. Auto focus looks for vertical lines, what are You shooting at? Try rotating the camera 90 degrees, if it locks better,Bingo. Subjects without much contrast are hard to lock focus on

Focus Problem

Low light focus lock can be a problem with this camera. But in normal or bright light there should be no problem with auto focus lock. If this is a new problem, you should check to see if a setting has been changed. With so many options, it is easy to accidently set something that causes unusual results (been there, done that). First ... Go to the Setup Menu and see that the "All Reset" option is selected. This will cause everything to be reset to factory default each time you power-on the camera. Turn the camera off and then turn the camera on. Then take some test photos to see if your auto-focus-lock is improved. If that works, there is no need to check the items below. If that does not work, here are some control changes to try. Remember if you turn off the camera everything gets reset. That camera uses contrast detection for auto focus and it is normally set to "Multi-Area Auto Focus". Try changing it to "Spot Auto Focus" and do some tests, including with the camera set to one of the programs or manual mode. There is another setting called "Autofocus Area", you should investigate. Check your manual to determine what you can do with this control. There is another control called something like "continuous auto focus". Check the manual for further information. If none of the above help, it is time to see about some camera repairs.

"Battery Save"

This setting helps to conserve battery power by restricting several functions: The back LCD monitor cannot be turned on while in a shooting mode, it will turn on while in the Play mode. Full-Time AF (auto focus) cannot be used and the viewfinder will turn off after the 30 sec. without use.
