HEAT PUMP/AIR CONDITIONER UNIT SMELLS ONLY WHEN AIR IS ON

I HAVE AN AMERICAN STANDARD HEAT PUMP/AIR CONDITIONER UNIT OUTSIDE MY MOBILE HOME. THE UNIT IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. LAST WEEK IT SMELLS ONLY WHEN THE A/C IS ON
WHEN HEAT IS ON IT DOES NOT SMELL UNLESS IT GOES IN DEFROST MODE AND JUST A FEW SECONDS THEN WHEN THE WARM AIR COMES THRU THE SMELL GOES AWAY. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND NO ONE KNOWS WHY.
THANK YOU

I know what it smells like...a dead animal! It is not a burning smell because it happens only when Cool is on. I hope someone has a solution for this. We have changed both filters but that didn't work. And the smell comes through even when the filters are taken out.

Not sure what the smell...smells like.  My guess is dirt or dust near the heating elements.  These will cause a burning smell.  Sometimes insects even get into the act..building webs.
You will have to clean that area out...sometimes a large blower or vac can dislodge the dust.

Heat works until thermostat calls for aux heat, then blower shuts off with outside unit still running.

Some blowers shut off depending on the system. Do you have electric hest strips inside? If not the blower will shut off. The outdoor fan should not be running if in defrost mode. If you have heat strips then you likely have low voltage wiring crossed

I have American standard heritage 11 heat pump with the coils inside btw it's a double wide I was wondering where the fuse might be located

There will be a box that the unit gets power from, either up on the roof or on the side of the home, the fuse or circuit breaker will be in there.

Heat Pump

That is normal. Secondary heat is not needed unless it is very cold outside. If the heat pump can't keep the house warm enough and the temps start to drop, the secondary heat kicks in. 2 degrees is normal.

Remove the cover of the circuit board and controls on the outside unit. Some units have a thermostat that allows you to set the temperature at which it switches to the second stage of heat. Set that for about 34 degrees.
