Washer does not work after water fills up (Legacy series)

My Maytag Legacy Series Washer fills up with water but, when it goes to the next cycle it shorts out the circut breaker pops and starts to smell like electrical sparks at eletrical outlet. I had to manually empty the water. Never had this problem before always had great luck with Maytags. This is the commercial model with stainless steel tub. Please advise. Thanks for any help.

Sadly not and depending on the age of the washer and how much you purchased it for. I think it may be time for a new one and i know you dont want to hear that (i hate it to) but its not cheap the whole motor needs to be replaced if that is what it is.

Sorry

The motor has had it and it is effecting the whole washer or it may be the computer but most likley the motor.

Turn it off and unplug it. take it to the nearest repair man

Maytag legacy series washer

The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely.

When my washer is at the rinse cycle, it sometimes keeps filling because the water is also goin down the drain. It drains while it should be filling.

Two things to look for... make sure your drain hose is 36inchs off the floor. Next if your drain is directly connected to the house drainpipe you can get a siphon. You can look for a after market siphon break device to add to the hose to help stop this from occurring.

Maytag washer doesnt fill with water. after about 3 inches of water in bottom, it starts draining out.

pull the drain hose out of the wall
it should only be six inches in the wall
or will create a syphone and the washer will continue to fill and drain and fill and drain
try this and let me know how it goes

Maytag legacy series tub wont fill

Your drain hose is too low or there is no air gap where the hose enters the drain line.
This causes the water to siphon out as it fills.

Maytag legacy series washer not holding water

Same problem here. But according to Maytag Service, the draining pipe may be too deep inside the draining tube on the wall, thus creating a siphon effect and not allowing the tub to fill.
Their suggestion is to ckeck the pipe and make sure no more than 6-8 inches are inside the draining pipe. This should take care of the suction. We'll see, Imma do that when I get home.
