SOURCE: programming error BCT8 Uniden

Hello.
Back to answer my own question.
I just found the problem. If you try to program one of these scanners (Uniden BCT8) and you keep getting a "pr9-loc" message every time you try to enter a frequency and "M-LOCK" is showing in the upper right corner of the display press and hold the M-Lock (E) key until it beeps twice and "M-LOCK" disappears from the display. You're now set to program.
Keith.

The manual has simple step by step instructions for programming your scanner. You can download and print it, at no cost, here:

My uniden bearcat 50 channel 800mhz stop the police, fire ect.. and only gives me weather.. why? can you help ?

  • You can try pressing "Manual" and then "Scan" or "Band" buttons from the weather setting to get you back to scanning the police, fire, etc.
  • Make sure you don't have a WX (Weather) frequency programmed into on of the regular 50 channels or the scanner will continue to stop every time around as it will pick up the WX frequency.
  • Make sure you have your scanner programmed as well.

How do you start to program a bct8 800 mz scanner

Programming conventional frequencies into the scanner's PRIVATE bank is simple, but programming trunking systems is a detailed process that will take some research and probably some practice. The best instructions for both types of programming are found in the factory operating manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here:

I can't pick up the WX. Nothing but static. Also used to pick up Benton County SAFE-T tower while in Tippecanoe, but not anymore.I am in Indiana.

This scanner comes programmed with several wx frequencies depending on the region you live in It will go to the appropriate frequency when your using wx.. I dont know the frequency for indiana but that is one of the frequencies that shouldnt give any problem at all. The only thing i can think of is wherever your wx is coming from in your area is having problems. Know anybody else that has a scanner? Have them check it out to see if they get the same static.

I am trying to program my Uniden BCT8 to track LTR systems but having problems.

LTR systems must be entered in a specific order so that channel 1 is 1st, channel 2 is 2nd etc...
Are you sure that the BCT8 tracks LTR systems? A Radio Shack PRO 92 tracks all 3 trunking systems (analog) including Motorola and LTR, while some Uniden only track 1, and some don't do trunking systems at all.

Hwy pre-programmed frequencies

Unfortunately, I think this is a common problem with these radios. I have a brand new BCT8 and it started to not receive anything on the pre-programed highway patrol after using less than a month. Unfortunately the best bet would be to contact Uniden which they will probably tell you to reload the firmware (which won't solve the problem) or send it to them to fix.

Programming

If its just a normal frequency then select Hold/Resume and press the arrow keys until you find the selected channel, then program in the frequency for example 130.000 you have to make sure the decimal point goes in with the frequency then press (E) then press the arrow key up to go to the next channel and program and repeat steps.
Then select scan you may need to activate the banks so when scanning just press 1,2,3,4,5 so next to the bank icon all 5 should be up.
