27" MAGNAVOX W/ CHILD LOCK ON- NO REMOTE!

I have a 27" magnavox tv and the original remote is broken. Recently hit child lock on mistake through the tv buttons. Now cannot turn TV on. Tried to buy a universal remote but unable to get TV to respond. I have tried it on other TV's in the house with the power off and had no problems. Also opened up the tv to see if there was a reset switch inside but again no such luck. Is there any way to remove child lock so I'm able to use my tv again? Not much help out there for this problem. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Hi, I accidentally turned on the child lock on my Magnavox 27" T.V. and when I tried to turn it off I turn the whole T.V. off to reset it but now it wont turn back on. I really would like to know how to turn it back off. Thanks.

I had (past tense) the same problem.(just unlocked this morn) I have a cheap universal remote (plustron URC11E-8A, $5). Try the the arrowed keys at the bottom of the remote, which look similar to the ch-/+, vol-/+ and the ok key in the centre. The menu came up and I was able to remove the childlock and adjust whatever I needed to. This hopefully can work for most universal remotes with the above named keys. Good luck

On those particular Magnavox TV's you have to use the original type of remote to power it back on then un-lock the parental lock. It is a bummer that nothing else will work. Here is a link to purchase a replacement remote.. http://www.electronicadventure.us/Merchant2/merchant.mv?screen=prod

I had (past tense, unlocked it this morning) the same problem for months. I have a cheap universal remote $5, Plustron URC11E-8A. I used the arrowed keys, not the vol or ch keys, at the bottom of my remote. Push ok when you've finished your adjustments. Good luck!

If you have a universal remote use that to turn the T.V.back on, I have a direct T.V. universal remote. As long as your universal remote is setup to turn the T.V. off and on you should be able to turn it back on with the remote. The child lock just locks out the buttons on the T.V. but not on the remote.

I don't know if all universal remotes will work, some are just ****, but give it a shot.
