SOURCE: Installing windows XP - Error encountered

Can you reboot and get into windows or is now corrupt?

What do you mean by 'uninstalled XP'??

You cant uninstall it unless you format the drive, in which case the recovery discs are now probably useless as they rely on a folder on the HDD called i386.

Recovery discs normally dont have the OS on them, they rely on the I386 folder to gather info about the computer and then restores it to the state when it was new.

If you can acess the system, reboot and go into the bios and change the boot sequence to CD, then insert the first recovery disc. then save the settings and the computer will reboot and start the recovery process again, this should clear up the error.

If it does not it will be because the i386 folder is missing in which case you can either explore the recovery discs for it or you will have to buy a copy of Windows XP.

SOURCE: Recovery Error

Do recovery again, when it asks you to insert disc 2, take out disc one and close the tray. Do not put the disc 2 yet. If you can see the error message again, then it is a RAM issue. You need to reseat the Memory module and try to do the recovery again.

If you closed the tray then no error message came up, it would be an issue with your recovery disc and order for a new one. You can contact Toshiba to have the recovery replaced due to corrupt media.

Hope this helps.

I have a toshiba a105s4084 laptop when i use the recovery disk i get an error missage "WRONG MACHINE!" also have had error message NTLDR missing also error: 10e7160017 email [email protected]...

You have a serious error on the hard disk caused by incorrect registry entries.
The recovery disk is obviously from a different machine.
If you at the start of booting press F8, hopefully you will get the menu inviting you to recover your system. If you don't, the recovery file is corrupt or missing and you will have to purchase a new OS.
It is probably too late to check for viruses but worth a go with Norton.

Hi

I fund this thread about the message error 10e7160017 http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=22596

One guy fixed it by updating to the latest BIOS version and clearing the power on and hard disk passwords.

Regarding you BIOS update;
You should firstly select the right G30 series from the Toshiba European driver page.
I have checked the page and there are different G30 series. So chose the right one wink.gif

Recovery Disc will not work

That's terrible. The right soution should be to try Ashampoo Uninstaller or similar software that gets off EVERY BIT of unwanted software. Use function "Install new applications". It asks for setup.exe, install.exe or similar executable file, that runs Antivirus 360 installer. Point to it. After all the installations completes, "Ashampoo Uninstaller" logs the installation. Now uninstall the unwanted program using "Uninstall logged programs". That's it!
If you really damaged your operating system, do buckup of your important data and reinstall OS

Where do i go from here

You can do both, but what I sugggest is try Toshiba recovery wizard first so you don't have to run into a lot of question during recovery process.
Toshiba recovery will give your computer first look as when you first bought it.
