Hi,
I have a Humax 5400 satellite receiver with a switch mode power supply problem.
The fuse is not blown, the supply attempts to start when the mains power is switched on.
I believe that there is a common fault of 2 electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board drying out which cause this problem.
I don't have a circuit diagram.
I would be pleased if I could get some help in idenitying the 2 electros that could be causing the problem , or any other clues you give me that would help.
Hope you can help.
Thank you
Robert
Dear Robert... I think the problem with my humax 5400z is similar to yours. Both 5400 & 5400z have the same power supply unit. I just solved it this evening by changing C9. It's a 1500 μF 10V electrolytic capacitor. Be careful not to reverse the polarity my friend. If you have problems to find the capacitor just e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send you pics showing the location of that C9 capacitor on tthe psu board. Hope this could help you. Good luck. Marvelous, same problem with vaci 5300, just fixed it right after reading this fix, capacitor replaced by 1200 ?F 10V,
Thank you!

I have a humax receiver no power, capacitor 400v 82uf bulge, I replace 400v 180uf but the same not working,
is it no problem even I replace the capacitor 400v 82uf - 400v 180uf?
Dear Denielle. The power supply of the Humax is very sensitive. Any change of the value of capacitors will affect the power outputs. You should replace the damaged capacitor by a good one having exactly the same capacity and voltage. Just replace the bad one with a new 82uF-400V and it should be working if there is no other other problems. Take care of the polarity too. Good luck.
thanks ramez, but as of now I tried to change the nearest one microfarad which is 100uf, still the same not working
Try then to change C9 which is 1500uF-10V. This capacitor is frequently damaged in the Humax power supply. Try to find exactley the needed values, not more, not less.
where is the exact location of C9 - 1500uf-10v
could you please help me?
Denielle In this photo the C9 capacitor has been removed and I replaced it by a red cap of plastic just to show you the location. So it should be inplanted at the place where you see the red cap. Again I remind you to respect the polarity before soldering the new capacitor.
C9 capacitor location
I check the powersupply of my receiver I think it is not the same I did not found this c9 because this is humax F1-ACE model
You gave me the impression that you have a Humax 5400 or 5400z. I regret then, I'm not familiar with the power supply of the model you are talking about.
Ramez, can you help me?
I can help as much as I can, but what is the problem of your receiver ?
So,problem is tha: when turning on, 3 flash dots appears on screen, thats all, nothink else.. As i understand , do i need to change 1500 uF 10V ?
we talk about Humax Irci 5400Z
i could not find 1500 uf 10v from there for replace.. Please help me...
Please Nail Eldarov, send me you e-mail address on my e-mail given above so that I can send you pics to help you locating the 1500uF capacitor. Thanks
Ramez, that is my email address [email protected] . Please
