Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Default settings for copier

The default settings for my machine are set at 4x6", glossy, standard. Most of my copies are 8.5x11", plain paper, so I have to change the settings manually each time the machine is turned on. How can I reset the default settings?

I am unable to open this page.

My printer will ONLY print 1/4 of the page. I have gone over and over the settings menu, chosen 8.5 x 11, full page, same magnification, etc., and the darned thing shrinks the image to the upper left hand quadrant of the page. I have also double checked the print settings on my laptop, and made sure that they are set to full page.

My husband has the same problem when trying to print from his laptop, so it must be the printer. HELP!!!! Thanks, Lorna

There must be s "custom setting" set as default. Check properties and restore defaults where applicable. This is an online manual for your machine. Good Luck, Tim

My Canon MX860 printer doesn't print black, what can I do?

When printing from computer set the paper default to High Resolution paper....When copying set the paper default to photo paper plus glossy II. it may work with other settings but have tried it yet.

Why when I select Glossy in the print settings, the print shifts?

Run this paper from the bypass tray located on the right hand side of the machine.
Try setting that paper type on the copier itself.
Load the paper. Go to the manual paper tray select screen. Select tray 1 and then change paper settings.
Glossy paper also tends to slip in these machines when the paper tray rollers are bad.

Won't recognize paper size hp document

HP's are notorious for not recognising paper sizes. Especially if you are out of the USA. HP printers are default set for USA paper. I have to set mine every now and again to the UK paper size system before it will print within the borders.

Go to paper selection etc and set the paper sizes before you print. Eventually, they do memorise the settings, as odd as that sounds.

Constantly cleaning the print head

I feel you should take it back. Under warrantee?

I can not seem to print my 4x6 on the glossy paper that i have

go to start / control panel / printers and faxes / your default printer properties / and then printing preferences / and go to each tab and set it to default ....and if that doesnt work.....unplug and turn off printer and uninstall all drivers from uninstall or add remove program and the reinstall the drivers should work

Printer grabs multiple pages to print one. Prints in mostly green for color copies.

Go into the printer setup menu and change the paper type to default. If your using Microsoft Word, go to 'File" > "Printer">"Properties" , and change to "plain paper" or default.

The problem sounds like the printer is set to print photos which is a heavy paper type. The printer needs to be set for a standard weight paper.

HP 2710 Printer

Issue When using colored paper in the all-in-one, printing or copying is slow. Solution This issue is a result of the automatic paper type sensor misreading the colored paper as photo paper. The print out takes longer because the unit is printing in Best mode instead of Normal mode. Follow the steps below to temporarily change the Automatic Paper Type setting from within the application that you are printing from.
  1. Click File , then Print or Print Setup .
  2. Select the appropriate all-in-one from the drop-down list and click Properties .
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab and under Type is: select Plain Paper . Changes made within the application might not be permanent and the setting will default back to Automatic after closing the application. The setting will have to be changed each time colored paper is used in the all-in-one.
Follow the steps below to change the default Automatic Paper Type setting to plain paper.
NOTE: By following the steps below, the default Automatic Paper Type setting will be changed to Plain Paper. In order to use a different paper type in the all-in-one (e.g., photo paper), the setting will have to be temporarily changed to reflect the new paper type.
  1. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
  2. Double-click Printers and Faxes .
  3. Right-click the appropriate all-in-one, and then click Printing Preferences .
  4. Click the Paper/Quality tab and under Type is: select Plain Paper . This sets the default paper type setting to Plain Paper.
