Re:
This is a DLP projection TV from the model you posted I guess. Is there any kind of light on the screen at all such as on screen displays? This is the first step in trying to isolate the problem.

on the back bottom right corner there are 2 Phillips screws holding a vent cover remove that, should have a small tunnel the lamp screws you can turn by hand pull handle to remove your lamp
This unfortunately has become a widespread problem with this series of Mits televisions. You can read a forem about it here: Flashing green light of death
But there is hope, Mitsubishi has instituted a rebuilding program for the chassis inside of your television. Any authorized Mitsubishi repair center should know about how to get you set repaired. It's not cheap (expect $500-$600) and it takes a few weeks, but it will save your TV.
Turn unit around facing you, either on right rear side or left rear side, generally looks as though it is a vent cover with one to three screws holding cover in place. UNPLUG TV BEFORE YOU WORK ON IT AS ELECTRICITY CAN KILL YOU.
Try to find a local repair centre & ask if they can give you an estimate on the cost to repair. A lightning strike can cause either minor damage such as just an internal fuse blown or can cause severe damage which will wipe out entire circuit boards which can be a costly repair. In this case it's usually not worth repairing.
something is not quite right here. usually mits has a good rep, but this doesn't sound quite right. i suggest you contact mits customer service about your experience.
That problem is caused by failed Capacitors on the signal and FMT power boards. which is a very common problem for mitsubishi TVs. There are repair kits available for the V26 dlp which contain the capacitors and instructions on how to do the repair. Heres a link check under the repair kits category. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
you need to make sure your fans, and vents are kept clean, if they cant cool the lamp properly, it will make the lamp go out faster, also change your setting in the menue to power save, or low power, saves on lamp time
