Vertical black line approx 3" in centre of screen with white line through centre.
I am looking for any advice on what the problem could be with my philips plasma tv. I have had it approx 3 years and now i am experiencing a thick black line running through the middle of the screen with a white/red/green line running through that. I would appreciate any ideas to what could be causing this and any advice on what it may cost to repair? If its expensive to repair should i just forget about it? The tv cost over £4000 when i bought it.
The model I have is actually 42fd9945/01, but this is my fist time using the site and could not work out how to ask specifically about this model.
Any help much appreciated!!!

Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
If this is a conventional TV with the original style Cathode Ray tube, this fault sounds like failure of the LINE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER.
It can be fixed, but may cost you around £70 ($120), possibly more if you have to call out an engineer.
Best NOT to use the TV as it is, because it will certainly damage the tube if you leave it running with that white line through the centre!!!
If you do use it, this line will become permanent and if you get the TV fixed later, there will always be a burnt section of the screen where the white line was - so I suggest you either pay to get it fixed right away, or consider buying a replacement.
if this line is in the picture, that is possible burn in screen. if you have a black bar at the top or faint white lines that come down from top this is caused by defective filters in vertical circuit or bad vertical output. mch
