I have green arcs from the bottom lower left to lower right progressively upwards a few inches apart with the lowest arc being the brightest. I am guessing "convergence" ? problem but I know nothing. I am handy and IF I can do the adjustment please tell me how. If it is a component replacement, I will call a service guy. Sony doesn't have anything on their site. The TV is about 3 years old from Good Guys so, so much for those bankrupt people.
Thanks in advance.
there is a way to get rid of the lines, you need to enter a code from your remote to access a hidden menu. From there you can adjust the lasers in the tv(green lines)I beleive it is very sensitive though, if done wrong can reck the tv. Not sure of the code or directions on how to exactly adjust the lasers, actually looking for them my self. Hope i was some help though!
No it only with an input. It also appears that the HD channels are clean. The DVD input does it with a DVD plugged in and the regular TV does it. The lowest arc is the brightest with fainter ones above it. Only green. Where is the flash focus? No it only with an input. It also appears that the HD channels are clean. That model is older than 3 years old. If the lines are mostly visable when you select an input (video 1,video2 etc) that has nothing connected to it and they appear as faint lines that go diagonal then an adjustment wont cure the problem. Some of those set had faulty picture tubes from day one. You might only see green right now but in the futire the red and blue will start showing the same symtom. If pressing the flash foucus and goes through the process successfully then your convergence circuit is most likely ok. The CRT's range in price and now in most cases the blue and the green are no longer availiable and have to be pulled for a rebuild. I personally wouldn't suggest anyone go into the service menu unless they know what they are doing.
The flash focis button is behind the control door on the front and the bottom button is the one. Press it and see what happens. The flash focis button is behind the control door on the front and the bottom button is the one. Press it and see what happens.

I had a similar problem with mine. It looked to me like the vanes were fluttering and causing arcing. I found an old piece of comb and slid the tines between the vanes to stabilize them. You might have to try it several times to get the position just right. So far its worked for me.

I expect the answer to your question is YES! The convergence amplifiers are a common problem in many projection sets. When you search for the replacements you should find that the originals have been superceded by improved parts. Also be aware that when these parts fail, they will usually damage a resistor in the convergence yoke return path. The resistor must be replaced with one of the correct value or the convergence, though responsive, will be out of range.

you can turn the Screen controls down a little bit, but I suspect you will need to replace all 3 crts as most of these crt arc sets require all 3. EXPENSIVE if crts are even still available.
