Green light blinking- no picture

Hi- we were watching our 50" Zenith Z50PX2d and the picture went funny, popped, then went black. When we turn it back on the green light blinks 3 times, the tv pops, and the light goes red. We no longer get any picture or sound- just all black. Are we screwed? Is this a big (expensive) problem? Thanks

    Alright- Here's a follow up on what happened: This happened 1 month out of warranty. Zenith wouldn't take it because it was out of warranty. They directed us to a Zenith repair center. They looked at it and to get it repaired it would cost at a MININUM $1,000 (he estimated $1,600 on our case) and he said plasmas are incredibly hard to repair because of a rig needed to repair it and not to many shops had this rig PLUS it's inpossible to find plasma boards and parts. He also added that a lot of plasmas are dying and he considered plasma tv's "disposible technology".

    My solution? I got rid of my 55" plasma and bought a 47" Samsung LCD tv...with a nice 4 year extended warranty. I have completely lost faith in plasmas. Hope my experience helps others.

    I heard a loud pop & then no picture. I get sound & can change channels.

    Green light blinking.

    Bought at Circuit City-Jan. 2006.

    I couldn't believe I found this site. Same TV & same exact problem.

    tv screen went black and audio quit, power light blinking. unplugged waited 5min repluged, no help

    My 50" tv quit working and on the front of my tv at the bottom where the on and off lights are, I have a blinking green light 3 times and a blinking red 3 times, is this a code telling what the problem is ?

I had Zenith 50" Plasma, popped loud no picture. Called Circuit City no help at all. Called Zenith and they agreed to pay for parts only. They recommend replace all 4 boards. Then will elimanate prolem if replace all 4 boards. They sent work order to local tv repair shop. I would have rather it didnt cost me anything. However, the 4 boards are over 1,000.00. So I can pay for the labor. I will never buy anything from Circuit City again. And they wonder why they are struggling? Hope this helps.

I recently had the same problem as well. I called zenith/lg and I bought this model in Jan of 2006. The lady on the phone said they are well aware of the problem. She asked me to have a copy of my receipt faxed over from best buy and then she'll set me up with their repair center. I was barely on the phone with her 10 min. The repair center is coming out next week to fix the tv and all parts/labor are being covered.

This just happened to my Z50 yesterday...10 days after it came back from the repair shop! The first repair was for the "popping" problem where the tv makes a loud pop and the screen goes black. This took 6 weeks to get fixed. For this new problem the repair center is getting hold of LG to find out what to do. I am also calling them because I see this is a major problem that people have been experiencing out of warranty. The first customer service rep told me I was out of luck but I am not accepting that answer. Good luck, we'll both need it.

    Where are you in terms of warranty? My understanding is this is another board problem and can run up to $1000 in repair if you are no longer under warranty. To know for sure have your service center diagnose the problem.

I had AWFUL customer service. (Sherry is DREADFUL her # is 1-877-543-8325 she is in"executive services". Ask to speak to her directly...if you would like ZERO help.)

They WILL NOT extend the warranty, even though they know there is a defect with this AND other models. Zenith name on the front...LG guts in the inside.
Ours turns on, screen black and then clicks three times and then turns back off.

Something blew.... like overheated and just basically blew up..... Was it on for a long time? You may to check your warranty to get it fixed or a new one.... or you may have to just buy a new one....

There's an over current fault in the power supply or the Y-sustain convergence board. The loud pop was either a capacitor or pico-fuse breaking from excessive current overload. Sounds like 2 or 3 mosfets have shorted at the gate ends. Plasma TV's always have this problem because they generate too much heat and the components cant take the load conditions. Make your next TV an LCD...

To fix this problem have your local repair shop do it for you.....

A large pop and I lost my screen, it turned black

Its not the CRT, its the Y Sustain board.. This happened to mine 30 minutes ago.. and has happened to every owner of a plasma tv that uses the toshiba Y Sustain board..

My Zenith 50 in. tv won't come on, it went out yesterday. When you push the the power button, it flashes green for a few seconds then goes to the red off button.

it's your power supply that has gone. I had the same problem after owning my LG Z50PX2D for 2 months. The repair shop had it for 6 months. now I have the famous "POP & BLACK SCREEN SICKNESS" LG/Zenith should fix this.

No Picture or Sound only a green light showing power is on / then it turns off. I am currently in San Franisco will home on Friday Morning if someone wants to try some things. My wife is not technical....

Sounds like what happens after the POP. Mine POPPED then went very faded for 5 seconds then nothing. Upon turning back on it blinks green 4 times then back to red off.

Z50px2d

Technician just replaced the upper right (from the back) circuit board that conects to the panel. TV now works fine. I bought the display model 8 months ago with extended Circuit City Warranty for $1000 so I can't complain. This was covered entirly by LG/Zenith (nicest Cust. Svc. ever) so we'll wait and see what happens.
