My dvd drive on my dell dimension E510 stopped working and i tried the regedit solution and it still doesn't work, any other suggestions?

SOURCE: dell e510 cd dvd rw not working

Try going into your Device manager start right click on my computer click on properties then click hardware tab. Under this tab click device Manager. Under disc drives find the drive that you are having problems with and right click on it. Then try to update drivers. If this dose not work do the same thing but this time uninstall the drive. After it uninstalls go to your controll pannel and click on add hardware. It should find and reinstall the cd rom and it's associated files and hopefully work once again.

Please check the type of RAM you are using.
You must return it to BestBuy and try using a Dell store.
Call Dell Accessories sale and they will be able to give to better options and it wud work too.

If the sound card is built in then go to Dell support site and download the drivers - if that doesn't work it is probable dead

replace it with a PCI card

SOURCE: Dell Dimension 3000 CD/DVD drives not working

You can download the drivers from dell website, download.com, and many other sites. Download, then double click on them to install them. Once installed, reset pc.

Restarts unexpectedly
It can be one of three culprits with this unit -- first, try running it without the front panel plugged into the motherboard (the one with the front USB ports) and set the BIOS to auto power-on. If it keeps running after about 2-3 hours, then it's a bad cable. If not, swap out the PSU. A Thermaltake TR2 430W from Frys or MicroCenter works perfectly. If that doesn't stop it, take a good hard look at the capacitors near your memory on the motherboard. If they are even slightly 'popped,' then the board / memory controller may very well be bad. Swap the motherboard.

Try to use cd cleaner to clean the lens, if this doesnot work, this means your lens is died, change the DVD Rom.

Dell E510 Missing CD & DVD Drives...nothing is working yet...
you can buy that type of hardware anywhere since it is standard for all desktop. Your current drive is IDE meaning that the data cable on it is an IDE type.
Go to your local computer store and ask for a DVD writer IDE, since there is really no price difference now for a combo or dvd writer drive, it will be like 10 $ more for the writer. I live in canada so if you are in the US could be less here a DVD writer is around 35 $ at a computer shop.

good morning! please try to check the jumper settings (Master/Slave) as well as the cable connections of your CD/DVD ROM, if still CD/DVD Drive doesn't work, kindly try to connect/use another CD/DVD ROM - if this work, then the previous CD/DVD ROM laser lens is defective. best regards

CD WANT BURN ALL THE WAY
if the problem persists with different types of discs and you've already tried multiple burning programs...nero, roxio, nti..then your problem is with the dvd drive specifically. you can get a new one fairly cheap for less than 50 dollars.

Dell dimension 2400 does not recognize cd/dvd drive
Dear Minita,

please follow these steps.

1. Click on START button, the click on RUN
2. Enter REGEDIT and press enter
3. When REGEDIT starts, open up the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. After clicking on {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} you should see two settings on the right-hand side:
"Upperfilters"
"Lowerfilters"
Click on each of them, press DELETE and click YES.

Then close REGEDIT, shutdown & restart your PC
