Have sound and no picture GE 46GW 948

I have a GE 46GW 948 46 in. Rear Projection Television. It has tstarted to go black on me, but I can still get to the menu and see the no useable signal mseeages that it puts up when the DVD is disconnected. Further, I cam see closed captions when it goes black too. Unplugging it and letting it sit will make it work for a couple of hours. Thanks for the help

I've started to have the same issue. I had turned the TV off accidentally, and when I turned it on, I had sound but no picture. I tried the antenna and VID1/VID2, with no luck. Menu and all OSD info shows up fine... and I also see CC when the TV is muted.

Just recently my GE 46GW 948 46 in. Rear Projection Television when turned on goes from a good picture to an hour glass shape and an almost 3d like picture. When I turn it off then on I get a good picture...

Sounds like a loose solder connection on the Convergence board or the convergence power board. If you are savvy and electrically safe, tap on the boards with an insulated screwdriver to see which has the loose connection, and you can resolder to fix. Repair from a service center = $150-300
