have you tried re setting your HD? removed the IDE and SATA connector cable and then connect it again after a minute. have tried that on one of my pc. it worked.

No, chkdsk will not help: this is a hardware defect - part of the platter of the disk is damaged. The disk is dead, recover what you can from it and get a new one.
The Brady 1344 printer is really a Datamax E4304 printer with 300dpi print head. A google search will produce numerous companies selling this printhead
That's usually a damaged system file or a bad sector on your hdd. I recommend booting of your xp disk go to recovery console once you boot and run chkdsk /p and reboot when done.
