Reset onkyo tx ds555 - Onkyo TX-DS555 Receiver

Your receiver appears to have a digital optical input, so no converter would be needed, just an optical fiber cable (TOSLINK) between the two optical ports. However, the manual for your receiver states that several functions don't work unless there is also an analog connection. If you must have those, you can use an HDMI audio extractor. You may also need an adapter cable to convert 3.5 mm stereo audio to a pair of RCA phono plugs to make the analog connection.

You should investigate the area around the cable connector for bad solder joints.

All of them will work just fine audio-wise with the Onkyo and on some level just about any TV made in the last 20 years if it has s-video, composite video, component video or HDMI video inputs (google them).

Keep in mind that no video must necessarily pass from the the BluRay to the receiver but it MUST find its way to the TV. It's best to have any audio or video signal go directly to the best electronics that handles it. That's one reason they can be routed separately.

Carefully examine the front panel for other clues.

Look for Speakers NOT enabled, Muting ON, a Tape or other input like MULTI-CH Input inadvertantly selected.
