If the power light blinks slowly,

you've tried to turn on the TV during

the lamp cooldown cycle. Wait

approximately 30 seconds, and the TV
will turn on automatically.

If light blinks, pauses for about a

minute, and blinks again: the lamp is

trying to turn on (TV will turn on

when successful). If TV doesn't turn

on and sequence continues, the lamp also
needs to be replaced.

If tv turns back on itself after shut down then it is weak lamp problem, replace lamp in tv to fix its problem.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv and replace it as it is user level repair and lamp replacement procedure is mentioned in related user manual.
If standby light start blinking after shut down, let me know how many times it blinks after three second pause to provide you info about possible cause of problem.

replace the lamp. . thats all . and make sure to put the lamp door back on of course.

i unplugged the tv , turned the lamp switch to off . I left it unplugged for a few hours . I then plugged the tv back in , hit the reset button , located on the front bottom left . I waited for the timer light to stop blinking , then turned the lamp switch to the on position . I turned the power on to the tv . i heard the fan kick on , this time there was not a dragging sound . the screen lit up and i have not had a problem since yesterday . i think that the problem started because the tv had been left on for too long , I know that what i have done is only a temperary fix . but as long as I dont forget to turn the tv off , i should not have a problem

this is a symptom of a bad lamp. for some reason it won't spit out a lamp error. shaking up the lamp will sometimes fix temporarily but you will find replacing to be the answer. if your tv has a fan error, you will get 4 red blinks.

Yup, it seems a lamp problem can give a blinking green light over the 10 times (1 - 10 times for diagnostic codes), but in my case rather than replace the bulb if it works for a minute then resets with the green light blinking, do what I did.
Take the lamp out and inspect it, it has breather screens top and bottom, if it cant breath because there clogged with dust, clean them, and you can remove the screens, use q-tips and clean the inside. I saved the cost of a lamp and it's working fine!

cutta, you will most often hear a click on boot then the fans start up and lamp will then fire. The picture will start to show up....at what point does it shut off? and do you hear a click when the tv is turning off? Is it the complete tv shutting down, fans and everything that turns off? Do you see any lights on the the front panel "POWER", "STATUS" or "LAMP", what are they doing? If you see a Power, Status or Lamp light after it shuts off the below are what they mean if there is an issue. POWER - STATUS - LAMP - CONDITION/ISSUE: Off - Yellow - Off - Temp. high/dirty filter/excess room temp Off - Off - Yellow - 4000 hrs. Lamp usage warning Off - Off - Blink Yellow - Lamp Cover open Off - Blink Yellow - Off - Air Filter Cover open Off - Off - Red - Lamp failure (failed to turn On or broken) Off - Blink Red - Off - Fan Has Stopped Off - Red - Off - Circuit failure (short) or DVI cable disconnected If you want to check for the last "Error Code", after you first turn the TV on, by pressing the front panel ?DEVICE? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds, it activates the Error Code Mode. The ?Power LED Light? blinks/flashes (1/2 sec delay) and then flashes again denoting a two digit Error Code indicating no problem or an error has occured since the last Initalization. i.e. "Power light" blinks 3 times (1/2 second delay) and then blinks 4 times then 1 sec delay and repeats a few times. This would mean "Error 34 - Lamp abnormality". See below for error codes..... Error Code - Description or issue 12 - No Error detected, check Power Supply 32 - Lamp Cover is open 33 - Air Filter Cover is open 34 - Lamp abnormality 36 - Light Engine (DMD or LAMP Fan stopped) 37 - Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 - Lamp temperature high 39 - DMD temperature high 41 - Short is detected 44 - DVI cable between FMT & Engine disconnected.
