Have an archos 7o tablet and cant remember password

You will need to reset the CMOS/BIOS

Tools needed:
Philips screwdriver
anti-static wristband.(if you dont have one then make sure you touch something metal before touching any circuitry in the computer)


unplug the laptop and remove the battery pack from the laptop. While unplugged press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds to discharge any power left in the laptop.

(IMPORTANT: Make sure you wear your anti-static wristband or touch something metal before handling the circuitry of the computer)

This is where it will get tricky you will need to open the laptop and look for a battery on the main chipboard(motherboard).Be extremely careful because there will be ribbons connecting the keyboard to the motherboard so take apart the computer slowly. Slow and Steady wins the race here. The Battery will range in size from the size of a nickel to a quarter. You will need to remove this battery. wait about 15 seconds then put it back onto the motherboard where you just took it out from. Put computer back together and plug battery pack in and plug in power and turn on you should be able to access BIOS without being prompted for a password.

You will need to reset the Time and Date of the system in BIOS once completed.


If this is too techy for you then I recommend taking it to your local computer repair shop for them to do for you.

If so, remove the Real time clock RTC battery to reset the BIOS pasword.

The others are trickier but tapping F8 upon rebooting and choose command line safe mode

hit return as the password, often the administrator password hasn't been set if this was a home computer. At work, usually IT departments make sure this doesn't happen.

activate the administrator account if it hasn't been touched net user administrator /active:yes.

You might be blocked but there are straight forward ways to recover passwords and that is a deeper dive discussion. I tread lightly due to security issues but publicly available utilities have been known to work: about.com re: Ophcrack

Try not to go too far down the hacking path. The tables turns instantly and you will be worse off than going into data recovery education.

There are many methods to remove Windows Logon Passwords.(System Password ie Users logon)
