Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU850SW - Multiple Color Free-standing Dishwasher
Cycle won't start, no water. makes very strange noise and then stops. It is very cold here, could my inlet be frozen? How would I check (all other water seems to be running okay.)
JenZ, first check out the float assy. inside the tub and make sure that it is not stuck in the up position. If that is ok, you will have to remove the bottom panel and on the left you will see the fill valve. There will be a two wire harness going to it. You will have to see if you have power going to it when you start the dishwasher. If you have 120V. going to it and still no water, remove the water line to it and see if you have water. Shut it off at the supply first. If you have water and power and still no fill, replace the inlet valve...part number. 8283345. Catriver..post back

Hi
If the washer won't fill you'll need to check for the water
inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the pressure/water level switch assembly.
Inspect the inlet hose coming to the washer for any blockages. If the hose is
not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will
not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and
should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet
valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace
the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the
pressure/water level switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...
Please post back if you need more information.
