Hi ..?.., a fairly common problem. If you can insert a good CF card with known good images and see them, it's probably a recognised manufacturer's "CCD" fault and Canon will repair it free of charge!! You can check their website (Australian e.g. - copy and paste all between the following single quotes ... 'http://www.canon.com.au/support/customer/default.asp?DXI=KnowledgeBase/Customer/KBArticleForm&File=KB01634&productID=powershota70' ... in your browser address bar) but I suggest telephoning your nearest Canon office and taking it/mailing it to them. (If you cannot check it, they will do this). Hope this helps. Regards, Gerry.

Outdoor pics completely washed out Cannon S5 IS Power shot

Try going into the review menu, choose setup and then choose 'reset all' This should re-set all shooting settings to automatic and solve the problem. If that doesn't do the trick, your sensor is probably damaged - not good news - sorry

The screan is black i can take picturs fine and record but i when i go take a pic the screen is black until i review the pic. Its not the shutters because the screen isnt black when i have it on video...

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to cannon service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

I have a Canan thats giving my problems too

Hi there.
Its possible the pictures are fine if you download them to the PC.
The fact that if you can see a ghost image on the camera indicates that the inverter has gone on the camera and it need to be repaired.
This can cost a lot of money to get sorted out, so if your happy to snap away and then transfer the pics to the PC then your all good, but if you prefer to see what pic your taking then a repair is eminent, other than that its a new camera.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Canon Powershot A70

There is a button on the back that can be pressed called Disp. (stands for Display). There are two or three settings it flips through each time you press the button. Press this button a few times to cycle through the choices in each of the playback and camera mode to see if this resolves your issue. Happy snapping...
