You need to uninstall it and reinstall it. It sounds like it is ignoring pc communication so errors are present. If no good, email me at [email protected]

My Lexmark Interpret S405 fax?copy machine picks up incoming call from cell phone as fax. it goes onto fax automatically after 2 rings..

It seems that you're sharing your home phone line with your Lexmark fax machine. You can adjust the "pick-up" ring from the printer operator panel by pressing the Setup button > Fax Setup > Ringing and Answering > Pick Up On > select your preferred number of rings before the fax answers.
Please note:
If you have an answering machine connected to the same line as the fax, set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does. Increase the number of rings by a factor of 3 over the answering machine. For example, if the answering machine is set to pick up on 4 rings, set the printer to pick up on 7 rings.

If you have a voicemail feature in the same line as the fax, you may subscribe from your phone service provider for a distinctive ring pattern feature. You can program your printer to have a distinctive ring pattern and phone number for incoming faxes.

Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you. Should this resolves your problem, your rating will be greatly appreciated.

How to get my s405 to receive a fax

You might want to check the User's Guide for your printer. To access it, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Pro200 Series > User's Guide. Go to page 62 to know how to setup your printer to fax.

If your fax is already setup - meaning you're already able to send faxes but not able to receive. Make sure that the Auto Answer is on. To check that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Fax Setup > Auto Answer.

If you have an answering machine, make sure that your fax will pick up 3 rings higher that your answering machine. If you answering machine picks up on the 5th ring, set your fax to pick up on the 8th ring. You can change that under fax setup.

If you have a voice mail service enabled in your phone, you'll need a distinctive ring feature for your fax to work if it's being shared on the same line.

Phone is plugged in to a fax machine and the phone rings too many times before answering machine picks up so the fax machine takes over. How can I reduce the number of rings so that the answering machine...

Change the answer machine rings to answer number to less than the fax number of rings to answer or increase the number of rings to answer on the fax machine. Would need exact model number of phone system to give more detail on programming steps. Info should be in manuals of phone system and fax machine.

Cannot send faxes on my all in one hp office jet 5610

If the recipient side is ringing, then the problem is on their end. It sounds like the receiving fax is not set for auto-answering a fax call. A receiving fax machine should pick up and start to attempt the reception even if the fax number is dialed from a normal voice-only telephone; the receiving machine has no idea if the caller is a fax or a regular phone. It should pick up regardless and start to negiotiate the fax (that's the high-pitched whistling sound at the beginning of the call).

How do you program the machine to recognize the incoming fax ring tone

if it is a sharp fax machine it has a reception button which you could change the status of unit from telephone to fax or answering machine. usually the indicator of these button is located on the rightmost portion of the lcd screen. once you press the reception button while the unit is on standby, the indicator will point on which of the three settings will you want to activate.

FAX JX500

Mary:

Given that the last question I responded to for you related to a Fax JX200 - and this to a JX500 - I am not certain which model you are actually asking about. The information that follows relates to the JX500. Further, if you need information in this regard on the prior post in order to feel that the previous response was a FixYa level response, please let me know. I responded based on the information you provided...

Based on the fact that you are getting a constant 5-ring situation, it appears that the machine is in TAM (tel-ans mach) mode. The purpose of 5 falls into remote recovery of messages - toll saver results in the phone answering after 2 rings if there are messages to retrieve, and 5 if there are not. This is done to prevent long-distance charges if there are no messages.

Two ways to accomplish an 8-9 ring objective. (1) Place the machine in manual mode, which means answering every call and sending faxes to the machine. Additionally, a "fail-safe" on this mode is that it will switch to TAM/automatically answer (if there is a recorded greeting message) after 15 rings - below. (2) The incoming ring - ring count - can be set (under Fax/Tel Auto) to ring 10 to 60 seconds before the fax picks up. (3) Alternatively, the Incoming Ring ring count can be set to have the fax ring 2 to 30 times, depending on the country specific parameters.

Re TAM: When the fax is set to <MANUAL MODE> and <MAN/AUTO SWITCH> has been set to <OFF>, TAM MODE will be activated if the fax rings 15 times and the call is not answered (only when an outgoing message has been recorded). When the call is disconnected, the fax returns to <MANUAL MODE>.

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding your specific needs, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Winfax Pick-up

Try looking at best buy for a fax switching device it can tell the difference between data and voice. I don't know how well they work but i have not used that particular program. I did find this though on another site http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/238/15/1.html

You can have Microsoft Fax automatically answer every incoming call to your modem or, instead, you can manually choose which calls to answer. The quickest way to change this setting is to right-click on the fax icon on the Windows taskbar then choose Modem Properties to display the Fax Modem Properties dialog box . Another way to get to these properties is from within Exchange; choose Tools, Microsoft Fax Tools, Options, then switch to the Modem tab, select the modem, and click the Properties button.

So you have to change the settings in Exchange I assume
