Question about Kenmore 14.8 cu. ft. / 419 liter Chest Freezer 13541
Is there anything we can do to try & fix this ourselves? Or are we going to have to buy a new freezer? Could it be something simple, like removing everything & defrosting the freezer? Help!
My electricity has been off for 36 hours and when it came back on, the freezer alarm is going off. How do I stop it?

Check to see that the temp control is working (turning on the compressor). You also can have a bad start device on the compressor so it's not turning on reliably. Worst case is there is a leak and the refrigerant has leaked out and no longer cooling. If you can hear/feel the compressor running (should be warm/hot to touch) and you have no cooling then you have that sealed system problem (no refrigerant gas left)

Thank you!
I don't know why it's working now, but last night I turned the temp control dial to the middle & pushed the "flash defrost" (or something like that) button and left it on for a few minutes. This morning the alarm was off & I just checked again & it's still off. So I don't know, but hopefully it's okay now.
