Fuzzy lcd screen with no image at all

I turn my camera on and everything appears normal except for the fact that I cannot get an image on the screen or through the viewfinder. There is power to the screen but that's it. The camera worked fine a few weeks ago when I last used it. I have tried removing and re-installing the batteries, formatting, different XD cards and played with all the different settings - nothing made any difference. Has anyone had a problem like this?

When it is turned on my screen is white everything is working .

Is the screen fuzzy? i found this solution on Google when it happened to mine. Try pressing hard just under the bottom right hand corner of the screen with your thumb (and second or third finger on the top). Squeeze hard! it works every time for my camera. hope it works for yours. Good luck.

NO IMAGE

Check the card isn't set to write protect mode with the switch on it.
I will assume the picture is viewable through the LCD and everything else appears to be normal.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Viewfinder Blank but shows information

From your description it would seem that the shutter component in your lens has failed. Although it is a little strange because the two symptoms you describe are not usually seen at the same time. The fuzzy pictures with streaks on them is a result of a shutter that doesn't close properly, the black screen with just the camera system text on it is a symptom of a shutter that is not opening properly. As for what caused the problem - possibly corrosion or contamination. Was the camera exposed to excessive humidity in the time it was unused? The shutter components are extremely delicate and can easily become stuck or sticky. This is what I believe has happened to your camera. It may not have failed completely but it may be sticking open or closed such that it is not performing its intended function. This will require full disassembly by a professional.
