To adjust the contrast, you have to hit the store button, then the arrow keys, which are the two little keys next to the caller id screen. you will then scroll thru the menu. it will eventually come to the contrast. then you use the arrow keys to move it to a darker shade. and hit store again, to store it.

umm...usually if it is a desk top there will be buttons either on the side, front or back or even the top, one looks like a sun and another looks like a square thats normally half white and half black. they are your brightness and contrast...push either end of the buttons to adjust more bright or less bright, more contrast or less contrast.

You should be able to adjust LCD contrast when phone is idle, just use the up/down arrow button to adjust it (don't go off-hook). As an FYI....The arrow keys control many things,
If not in use, they control the contrast.
If ringing, it adjusts ringing.
when using handset or speaker, it adjusts volume.
