My wife has a Minolta 300si and the film keeps rewinding and wont stop. After hitting the shutter release button, the rewind motor keeps running. Any possible solutions?

Check the manual rewind button on the bottom plate of the camera. Make sure the button is not jammed under the edge of the button opening. If it is you might be able to carefully pry it out with a sharp pin or tooth pick (be careful not to pierce the button or you could damage the circuit board underneath) Or you could remove the bottom plate and reseat the button (be careful of a loose spring to the film door latch)

Rewind button on bottom of camera is stuck in a depressed state and will not release. This causes me to be unable to rewind or load film, shutter button will not cause shutter to click, film advance crank...

Sounds like your camera could use a cleaning and oiling, I'd suggest sending it off to Gus Lazzari for repair. He does good reliable work to film cameras. Hope this helps.

I own a Minolta 7000 series that was given to me. I do not have the manual for it. On the front of the camera it also says AF. My question is, how do I rewind the film and take it out of my camera. ...

If it's a Minolta Maxxum 7000, it should automatically rewind the film when finished with the roll. To manually rewind the film, open the card door on the right side of the camera and press the rewind button. Open the back cover by pressing the button in the center of the back-cover release and sliding the release downward.

FILM ADVANCE/SHUTTER STUCK

Start simple and go from there.

I don't know if you have film in the camera so I'll read the following and choose what works for you.

I will assume the battery is working if applicable.

As stupid as this sounds press the shutter release button. If the shutter is cocked it will hold the advance. I've had people come in with this problem.

Not it?

If the film rewind has been pressed in it will disengage the film advance and stop the shutter mechanism as a result. Open the camera and close the back again resets the release.

If there is film in the camera remove it.

It there are important photos on the film and your rewind is not working use a coat to make a light proof black box. Just turn the sleeves inside out and put the camera in the coat. Wrap it so as it is closed to light. Open the camera remove the film and roll the film back in by hand.

OK so now we have a camera open with no film in it.

Open the back and look just below the shutter. On one side will be a very small "lever". This tells the camera that the film has been advanced and the shutter is cocked. Gently move the lever to the right. It should click. Now try pressing the shutter release.
Note that without film in the camera some cameras will not advance the shutter.

It should clear the problem.

If not something physical in jamming.

The film advance system could be jamming. On the side the film advance is on there will be a plastic "gear" inside the camera. Try moving by hand it should turn. You can reset the shutter this way.

Give this a try.

Hope this is helpful, if it gives you some direction please rate this answer.

Thanks

I can't get my film to rewind in my camera. Help!!!

  1. there s a small silver button on the bottom that releases the film so it can be rewound
  2. the rewind crank is on the left side on top, a little are flips out to allow you to crank it. Turn in direction of the arrow until you feel the tension release.
If you already did this and you feel hat there is still film in the camera the next question is
  1. did you load the film correctly - if not the film did not advance and thus no tension when you rewound the film
  2. is the film broken off inside the camera - too much pressure when rewinding the film without releases the clutch (little silver button)

Wind film?

Behind the LCD screen on the back of the camera, is a a gray button marked "R", and a gray slide switch to the immediate left of that.

Press and hold the R button, while sliding the switch to the left, this can be easily done with one thumb. the display will blink 0 and the motor will stop when rewinding is complete.

Film advance

It usually is the shutter not firing therefore jamming the advance. Try www.flcamerarepair.com They do not charge for ests.

Film advance lever and shutter release button are "stuck"

No, it is not the battery. My guess is that the film leader did not stay in the take-up spool and is now bunched up around it. Try rewinding the film carefully as you normally would but remember that you are only rewinding a small portion of the length. You can even just open the film door and start over. You will only loose 3 or 4 frames on the roll.
