VCR Tape will not play, it keeps ejecting

I am trying to play a VCR tape. I push in the tape, it shows PLAY on the screen, then it shows EJECT on the screen and ejects the tape. I have never had any problems in the past with it. I have tried unplugging the TV waiting 60 seconds and then plugging it back in again. I have turned off the REPEAT play. I looked inside to make sure nothing was in there. It is a wall mounted TV so my children can't reach it but you can never be too sure.

I have the same problem. I have a Phillips comb. DVD/VCR unit which is approx. 2 years old. I use it every day to tape my favourite and it worked fine until a little while ago. Every time I push in a VHS tape, it now ejects the tape. I tried using different VHS tapes, new ones too, and it still does this. I tried using a head cleaner, but this made it worse. What can I do to fix this problem?

Interestingly I also have just started to encounter this problem on a Phillips DVDR3510V DVD/VCR combi that I bought on Ebay recently, so wondering if it is fault with this type of machine.

Until last night all tapes played ok but now any tape I try ejects a few seconds after starting to play, it also does it on rewind (have not tried FF yet) but takes a bit longer to decide to eject, strangely on occasion a tape that ejects will play but this is once out 50 attempts now. Any ideas would be welcomed

I have a similar problem. It takes 3 or 4 times to get my Sony VCR to accept a tape. Once it does, everything is fine, until I turn it off. Next day, same trouble. I tried several tapes and brand new tapes. No difference. I have opened the cabinet and used alcohol to clean various stuff, no change.

I am a technician for a leading service company. You my find that the vcr tape you are trying to use has gone defective.
Try using a new tape to determine if this is the problem.

I tried this and the store bought movie worked but my home made movies did not.

I have had this problem for so long. I just pressed the manual (rather than the remote) DVD/VCR button on the VCR to make sure it was on VCR and it recorded straight away so will do this in the future. Hope it helps others too.

VCR won't eject tape or play & powers off

It sounds as though it's jammed. If you're mechanically inclined you can unplug the unit, take the cover off, and manually eject it. Just look for the motor that drives the load basket and manually spin the shaft. The guide-posts should retract towards the tape and the basket will then lift and eject. Just be aware that whatever bit of tape that's out of the cassette won't spool back in. You will have to do that bu hand once it's out.
When you're done, plug it back in and let it cycle then put an old cheap tape in and see if it works. If not, take it in for repair.

Vcr/dvd combo, vcr no longer will play tape, when I press play, after a few seconds will eject tape.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the eject mechanism and the drive motor connected with the tape mechanism. Try and align the drive motor. Also check the push-pull arm of the tape mechanism and make sure that the springs connected with the mechanism are fine.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Tape keeps getting ejected

This unit requires the rubber parts to be replaced. The loading sequence is not completing properly. The VCR will eject the tape when the sequence fails as a safety measure to prevent damage to either the VCR or the tape.

Parts cost for this should not be more than $10.

VCR tape won't eject

you should take the bottom off and you will see a gear with a belt around it try to turn it the same direction as when it is turned off, do not force it but it may need a little force to move the wheel.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.

VCR repeatedly tries to play and eject when tape deck is empty

the tape carriage is probably stuck, or something stuck inside blocking the tape sensor.
feed a tape in and see if it does it "with" the tape too

hope this helps
