Press and hold the SETUP button until you hear the first announcement. Press ANNC/SKIP or MEMO/REPEAT to change the language setting. The message window shows the current setting (E for English and S for Spanish).

I think I found a solution. On my phone model 27996GE3-A, I unplugged the phone for a few seconds, plugged it back in and waited until the display showed the number of messages and then I pressed the "skip" and "review" buttons at the same time and then it announced the the language changed to english. Hope this helps.
Just as the other answers that were left...you just have to press the skip button. Just make sure that you press announce on the cradle...not on the phone...then when you hear the voice in Spanish just press and HOLD the skip button until it changes to English. Good Luck
