I Have had this lap top for 4 months I bought it from walmart the lap top is great when it works.. So far I have had to send it back to acer 3 times mother board hard drive and power failure..... I got it back today from the power failure repair and was happy until i plugged it in and relized it was not charging the battery I called acer and they explained that is is a bad battery and my response was that How can it be a battery if it has a full charge on it and was fine before i sent it in? They are sending me a new battery But i have a feeling this is not the issues it seems that the laptop it self is not charging the battery Is there a Flash for bios or any way to fix this with out sending it back to them any help would be appreciated Steps ive already tryed . Unplugging the pc and taking out the battery and holding the power button down for 2 mins flashing the bios No Updates where found for this model Hours Trying to reset the battery from inside the Windows I can not seem to find any help on this matter for my model?.
I had a similar problem with a laptop years ago...Where the battery terminals connect to the motherboard, and Im not sure about yours because the models are obviously way different, but in some, they use "battery boards" that connect to the motherboard and are seperate from the system. Those "battery boards" have lots of micro capacitors and resistors on them and are responsible for charging the battery and completing the power circuit to "start" the computer. If I took the battery board out of the laptop I had, the whole thing wouldn't work. Since your laptop is starting while plugged in, but the battery is not charging...I would look into this area first. I am going to rummage around to see if I can find a schematic of your laptop and maybe some parts info.
I have the Lap top under warrenty and they are sending me a new battery but as a i stated i dont believe that the battery is the issue i will post if that fixes the problem
I agree that the battery is not the issue. The issue is that the board is not charging the battery. This is a hardware issue, so there is nothing you can do within windows or BIOS to fix this. let me know what happens with the new battery...

SOURCE: acer aspire 5710g Keyboard Issue
Sometimes the keyboard connector to the motherboard becomes loose it may workproperly sometimes sometimes it may not, its better take your notebook to some technical person open the notebook there and attached the connector firmly
SOURCE: no playback device
First make sure that you have installed the drivers for your sound card. Please check this and let me know..
SOURCE: Sound doesnt work sometimes when i start up my laptop
1st you uninstall sound driver.and Install driver again.1st of all you check the sound card driver is install in the system.
SOURCE: Had to re-load realtek RTL8185 Lan Configeration
it is possible that the audio driver to still be in the system ..but just mixed up with the local area connection driver...(network card ..from what you have said ..) The way to do it ..is insert the cd with the motherboard drivers if you have it ..and in there you will find the sound driver ..and all you have to do is run it ..and restart when you finish ..and the sound will be back ...If the card is not on board..you need the driver from the sound card ..and you either download it if you know the card's name ..or have the disk and install it from it ...
The best way is to identify the exact driver..or if you know you have the original configuration and you know the exact name of your system (motherboard) ..just get to the support site of acer..and download the driver for the sound after you select the model and the operation system ..
here is the support site ..but cause you didn't specified the exact sound card model or at least the computer's model name ..I can not select it for you..
If you know all these info ..just write me here in a comment and I will look for the driver..(specify the operation system please)
if you think that you never uninstalled the driver ..try to install it auto by getting into the device manager (right click on my computer ..and hardware ...device manager ..In here locate the sound card if it is in yellow..and click right and select update driver ...follow instructions and install it if the driver is still in the system ..
If you have the driver for the sound stored in computer ..just click to run it ..and continue until restart ..
or ..consult this site for it ..

New battery came it is as i thought the new battery is not taking a charge thanks to the poor manufacturing and crappy customer support i will now have to send my laptop in for a 4th time never ever buy a aspire series from acer. Worst waste of 550 Bucks ever spent!
this time when you send it in, demand a new board or a new charging board. Im not sure although I saw a couple of different boards for your laptop whether or not it has a seperate board to charge the battery. If it does have a seperate board, demand a new one. It isn't right that they keep sending the problem back to you. Just make sure you mention that the Board isn't charging the battery.
