My BB Pearl 8130 sustained moisture damage. At first, the key board functions were involuntary. However, after a few days, all keyboard functions returned to normal except the enter function for the roller ball mouse. Thus, I am unable to enter the unlock code. I can key in the code, but the enter function won't work when I press the roller ball. I can receive calls, but can't access or use any other features (make calls, camera, text messages, etc.) of the phone while it is locked since I can't enter the unlock code.
I have ordered a replacement unit, but would like to use the old sim card so I won't loose the data stored on my damaged unit. Is this possible and if so, how do I change the sim card.

Take SIM card out of old phone and put it into the new phone, however first of all you need to backup your old device.
Download the Desktop Manager and connect via USB cable and backup old handset, insert usb into new phone and restore to new phone thus moving all data from old to new.

If this is a Verizon phone then it most likely does not have a SIM card. If it does have one then it should be located under the battery. If your phone has a SIM card, here are the instructions for removal. Just reverse for install.

As you look at the phone, in the left side is a door with a simbol on it like a SIM card. Open with carefull that door and you`ll see a black line about 3 mm thick. Press on it and you`ll hear a click then remove your finger and the card should pop out.
This might be because of Hardware issue you need to walk into the service center to get it repair.
For your track ball:-
1) Go to menu
2) Select Option's
3) Select screen and key board
4) Make Horizantal and vertical sensitivity to 100, Still not working you need to walk into the service center.
Remove the battery, then remove the Memory card and Sim card (if you have a sim card). Then replace battery. Try this. If this does not work, while off try connecting the device to your pc, through bb desktop software. If the device STILL does not turn on or your pc does not recognize it, you may have a hardware problem.
This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.
1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.
2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.
3. If that fails, retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again.
you will need to contact your service provider...it is free but it will take a few days to get the code back if they have tot contact the manufacterer....but you need the 16 diget code......after you get that, go to options, advanced options, sim card, type MEPPD. scroll to sim card, type MEP and pres the ALT key and then the 2 key.
if that doesnt work, instead of typing MEP2, try pressing and holding the ATL key and type MEPPE
if this works, a window will pop up asking for the unlock code....
**note** you will need to put a 'forgien sim card' in the phone at the time that you unlock it
