If it is new it is probably vista you are running see if you can download from website of printer visat drivers if you cannot find them on the site for vista then buy new printer

1)right click the my computer icon 2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager. 3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes 4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers 5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer 6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next 7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly

There are some compatiblity problems between Vista and your printer. Check this web page to download a driver that may provide limited printing capability for your printer...you'll need to use Windows Scanners and Cameras or Photo Gallery for scanning.
my lexmark x6100 having problem to work with my window vista. i am very desappointed and very upset.and i can't uninstall it to reinstall again please help
Go to www.lexmark.com and click on Drivers & Downloads then Driver Finder. I did not see the X6100, but I saw the X6150 and X6170, hopefully that's what you have. You need to download the correct driver depending on what operating system you have. In other words, do you have Windows XP or Vista?
