Power problem i loaned my tv to my brother after a day or so ,it would come on for a few seconds then go off with loud clicking. He has a sony tv also and this is the problem he had before he borrowed mine.Could this be caused by an electrical problem in his house. they both do the same thing now. screen lights up then shuts down right away.

Your brother might have a power problem since the same thing happened to both sets. The 'loud clicking' sound could also be the high voltage arcing. If this is the case there may be water condensation on the picture tube or high woltage circuits causing them to arc shutting down the set. This will happen in cold locations where the set has been brought in from the cold or if open gas heaters are being used. Once the arc starts it will carbonize(burn) the insulation. This will cause permanent damage.(sometimes)

TV will not turn on

Hi, It could well be the power supply that is in the back of your set. Have a repairman check it out. It's not a do it yourself thing. Good luck.

Loud bang, unit stopped working

I have seen the caps in the power supply vent, which means they get hot and the top pops up and splits open, resulting in the "bang" sound. If you have experience in electronics then remove the back of the set and examine the power supply, looking for any caps whose tops are bowed upward, and replace.
