I am trying to print a document. The printer looks and sounds normal but when the document comes out only the logo at the top left (green & red cherries) and the company information (grey) print out. No other text prints on the page, even though the printer goes through the motions as if it is doing so. Normally the logo at the top left has a black outline but the printer is also ignoring this.
In the text of my document I had my e-mail address and without noticing it was hyperlinked on Word I tried printing again. Same thing except that because my e-mail address was blue from the auto-hyperlink, it also printed.
I have run all of the maintenance tests and when I do it says everything is fine and even prints black on the tests! I've checked all of the ink tanks which are full. I reset the printer controls to default. I played a bit with the Font options in Word and all of the color options are normal.
Does anyone recognize this problem or know what could be causing this? Any feedback or help would be so much appreciated!
Thank you.
Same problem here. The printer has 2 black cartridges, one smaller than the other. I believe the smaller cartridge 6BK is working and the other 3eBK is not. Ran all the tests, did both cleaning options, everything prints fine except the grid on the test sheet for the 3eBK cartridge. That entire row is blank on the test page printout. When I change the font color to anything other than black, the text prints fine.Same problem here. The printer has 2 black cartridges, one smaller than the other. Assuming the print tests you've done so far are built into the printer: Could be worth printing a test page from the printer properties box (which you can get in XP from the START menu, Settings, Printers & Faxes, then Right click on the printer you want and select Properties from the dropdown.
If the test page is OK, I'd try printing from a few different applications to see if that narrows the problem down.
If the test page has the same problem, then you might try reinstalling the printer driver.

Doesn't sound like your printer hardware. Try printing something other than your text document. If the page comes out clean/perfect then it means your printer is having a problem understanding your text document via print program translation. Otherwise try converting your text to pdf and print a sample page, if it works then again problem with software/printer translation.
I'm not real sure about how the software separates the colors, but I believe there's a way to choose a color as all colors combined to make black, or simple black.
I'm not sure if I'm making any sense, but if the printer is using all the colors to layer up and make black, then it would be a pretty thick coating and that might cause it to flake off.
It may be set for grayscale (black and white) in the print properties. Go into the print properties in Word and look for a color or black and white setting, either under Color Management or Advanced. Set it for color, and then print your color document.
Could it just be that the black cartridge has run out? If not, try and clean the print heads. You should be able to do this in the printer options in Windows. It is more than likle that the black nozzle is blocked.
if that is a refilled cartridge, you might have a problem with the ink. try print something (text) in pure black , and grey only, and see waht happens, if does notprint, means the printer has hard time with that black cartridge.
I changed the black cartridge with the color cartridge.
Then when I have a letter to print, I change change (or write) the letter text to yellow, red or blue.
Then I can print out a letter.
By printing the text as yellow, red or blue the cartridge will try to print with only 1 color, but will print out black.
If you do not use one of these primary printing colors the out put will be unusable.
