Hi,
My Pioneer is acting strange of late. Some cd's will not play at all, others play for a short while then start skipping and/or stop playing. It sometimes also displays the following message ERROR - 11
If anybody could help or give any info I would greatly appreciate it. The only Car Stereo dealer in my area that handles Pioneer's charge lots of ££££'s just to take it off your hands and send it away to Pioneer, then you have a ridiculous repair bill to add on top of that!
Regards
Jay

I just had an "amp error" message display on my Pioneer DEH-15UB and it quit playing. No sound at all. It happened while I was driving my Jeep. When I got home I removed the passenger side speaker from the sound bar and found the previous owner had used a wood screw to hold the wire to the speaker. That screw came into contact with the metal roll bar and caused the error. When I installed ends on the wires the error message cleared itself and now works fine
Hello! A resistive connection on the vehicle's illumination lead is the prime suspect...If you know the wire color for this signal, make sure it's a good solid connection to the P8000R's illumination wire...If you do not know the wire color send a comment with the year and make of your auto...
Hello, That`s not a big deal. I pruchased the part, and mounted it myself. Worked out fine. The only problem I have now, is that the OEL-display doesn`t work any more. That sucks big time....
the Pioneer DEH-50UB is working OK other than it displays error communicating with the iPod at certain times (intermittent);
the iPod when played alone/by itself does not exhibit any freezing/hanging problems;
the iPod to DEH-50UB connector/cable CD-IU50 is in good working order since if it is not, then the iPod would not even be heard on the Pioneer;
the Pioneer's wiring are OK otherwise it would not be working.
Which leaves us the possibilities of:
corroded/dirty USB port/interface on the Pioneer DEH-50UB;
loose USB port on the DEH-50UB;
loose or corroded terminals on the CD-IU50;
corroded/dirty contacts on the iPod;
RF interference from communications equipment such as CB radios, 2mtr Amateur, mobile phones;
electrical interference/noise from the vehicle such as horn relay, A/C relay, fan relay, alternator;
electronic noise from navigation/GPS mobile equipment;
keyless/remote alarm/security system.
Additional actions that could be explored/done:
installation of choke/filter capacitor along the red & yellow wiring of the DEH-50UB;
additional grounding/groundstrap of the DEH-50UB to the chassis/metal/body of the vehicle.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Consult your owner's manual for error codes. You have a disk/disk reader problem. A similar model Pioneer Manual indicates FRMTREAD as what is displayed while reading a disk. Error 15 equates to "The inserted disk does not contain any data". If this occurs with multiple disks, try the disks in a known good cd player. If they work there, it is likely a reader problem (alignment, bad reader, etc.) which would likely not be worth repairing or replacing in that unit.
