Need to know how Kelvinator FD830 upright freezer temp lights work. 3 lights located on the top right outside corner.

The Kelvinator FD830 upright freezer has three temperature indicator lights located on the top right outside corner to show the current temperature range inside the freezer. The green light indicates that the temperature is within the safe operating range, while the yellow light indicates that the temperature is rising and nearing the upper limit. The red light indicates that the temperature has exceeded the safe operating range and may lead to food spoilage.

TEMPERATURE INDICATOR ON DOOR IS NOT WORKING

Truly... if it is an indicator that is not working you be buckets of money ahead to get a $7 freezer thermometer and work from there

but alas... I suspect you are encountering deeper issues.

Looking at "Appliance PARTS PROS"... Your model number (FUM21SVRWW) is not resolving to a good number (looks valid when I insert an A, B, C or D between the "V" and the "R").

Like FUM21SVARWW

With that I found A freezer part WR09X20946... definitely
(needs to be verified).

http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/PartInfo.aspx?inventory=11721885&SourceCode=1&SearchTerm=FUM21SVBRWW&ModelNum=FUM21SVBRWW

start at drawing part 43... drawing (top left corner)

Your model number (FUM21SVRWW) did give me a part... but it would not DOUBLE CHECK...

I think the sensor and controller are combined into a single control.

Always get three decent estimates... (SEARS PARTS = $$$$) shows your part as WR09X10063... but personally... I would talk to EVERYBODY else first.... I'm just saying...!!!

Appliance Parts was offering "try their part" return policy... which is wonderfully attractive to us amateurs.

Trust but verify.

Good luck and good hunting.

Why is my freezer on 0?

Good Afternoon Friend, this is Z. That's a great question!

Depending on the model number of your Frigidaire freezer, "0" could indicate two scenarios. First, if it is set to 0 (zero) that could be the temperature it is set at. On some models, "0" means that your freezer is in the off position. You can re-start your freezer by pressing and releasing the "UP" arrow 3 times. If it continues to display "0", press and release the "DOWN" arrow 3 times. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your freezer status has change successfully. Thank you!

Freezer indicator

Good Afternoon Larry, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

I understand your freezer is showing "OFF". This typically means that the temperature control is in the OFF position. When this occurs the temperature control turns off the compressor, but does not disconnect the power to the light bulb or other electronics. Let's try reactivating the freezer by pressing the UP arrow until the display shows "4" or desired setting. Allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize. For future reference you can lock the control to keep from accidently changing the temperature setting. I hope these troubleshooting tips help you in some small way. I ask that you please follow up with a comment, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your freezer status has changed successfully.

I hope this proves to be helpful to you.

Error code 8

Good Afternoon Glenda, thank you for your inquiry!

Is it possible that the error code is missing characters? According to my research 8 is not a valid error code. The number 8 is more like a temperature setting, however to be certain, let's try resetting the appliance. It is important to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn the unit on. Set the correct temperature and please allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. The error code should clear and the unit resume to normal operations. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if the unit's status has changed successfully.

Best regards!

Of error code

Good Afternoon Jason, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds like the temperature control is in the OFF position. Let's try activating the freezer by pressing the UP arrow until display shows "4" or desired setting. Allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize. My freezer has a different code number;ZFT710FW.I put quite a lot of food into the freezer yesterday and the alarm now keeps sounding,I have put the temperature up but the red light is still flashing...

Red Alarm Indicator Light
Under normal operating conditions, the internal temperature of the freezer will ensure the long-term conservation of the stored food. When such temperature rises above a certain level (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger an acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.
You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressing the Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.

When switching on the freezer for the first time, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will blink until the internal temperature has reached a level required for the safe conservation of frozen food.

Fast Freeze function
If more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:
1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds to activate the fast-freeze function 6-24 hours before placing the fresh food in the freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator Light will illuminate. The compressor will now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. It is possible to deactivate the function at any time by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds.
3. Place the foods in the freezing compartments (indicated with graphics).
4. Once the food is completely frozen (it may take up to 24 hours) you can manually switch off the fastfreeze function by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 seconds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.
5. Move frozen food from the freezing compartments into the other compartments (storing compartments) to make room for another freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentally left on, the fast-freeze function will be automatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

I believe that you all understand. If you intend to freeze larger amount of food then certainly a few hours before some shopping switch on the fast freeze function.

P-1 code is flashing on temperature display

P1 is almost always a fault on the sensing (control) probe. Check it's end is not wet or covered in thick ice, and check the connections at the controller. If you can, change the probe connections on the controller temporarily. If P2 then shows it proves the probe is faulty. If P1 still shows, it proves the controller is at fault.

My true freezer temperature gage has a P1 flashing code

If unit keeps proper temp. then I would think that either the thermometer sensing probe may have been damaged during the repair process or the thermometer itself has failed.
