I forgot to mention that we were awaken to a vibrating noise @ 4am this morning. It was the ice maker trying to make ice & the arm was stuck. Yesterday, we also had a power outage. This morning I had to turn off the breaker again, so that I could remove the ice maker. That was the only way to stop all of the noise. When I turned the fridge back on everything "seemed" fine. That was until my Wife came home from work with the groceries & saw the temp higher on the fridge side & the freezer side flashing. Please help!

SOURCE: freezer works but fresh food seems warm

If you have frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment you have a defrost problem. When the freezer coil does not defrost the refrigerator does not get air for cooling.

SOURCE: samsung fridge freezer model number

Hi just wondering if you figured out the problem with your Samsung fridge yet.
It is definately a problem with the defrost part of the fridge. After approximately 4 to 10 hours dependent on many different factors it enters into defrost mode to get rid of any excess ice in both the fridge and the freezer. During the defrost stage the compressor will not run. If any fault occurs during the defrost stage the fridge will not restart unless you turn it off and back on again which restes the pcb and takes it out of defrost mode and the timer starts again.
Please let me know how you went with it.

SOURCE: Frigidaire side by side - fridge side temp too low

It sounds as though your thermostat is not cycling your compressor off causing it to run until the point of freezing. If you sit and listen, you will hear it hum. If it never stops humming, 9 times out of 10, the power outage shorted your thermostat.

Why is my refrigerator temperature dropping and freezing food, but freezer temp holds.

Hello Michael, I appreciate your inquiry!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is dropping the temperature within the fresh food side. The damper is located within the back of the fresh food side and this part will open and close so that the cold air from the freezer will come into the fresh food side. It is possible that this damper can be stuck open or staying open for too long. Do you notice any frost developing within the freezer? If so, please perform a manual defrost on the refrigerator and you can do that by disconnecting power from it for at least one hour. If there is no frost within the freezer then check to make sure no packages are holding the damper open. You may need to replace the damper or the damper motor and I would recommend having a professional technician out to perform proper replacement repairs. Best of luck! -Matt

Fridgeaire error code H1

Hello - Could it possibly be HI? Typically error code HI indicates that the unit has detected high temperature in freezer. Try setting the unit to a lower setting. Generally the factory setting is 0 for the freezer temperature and 37 for the fresh food temperature.

Fridgidaire refrigerator flashing error code 4

From what I remember a flashing 4 means "damper error". Send your model number found inside or on the outside of the fresh food section, The air damper is found between the freezer and fresh food section and regulates temperature in the fresh food section by opening wide for things that warm up your fresh food section example would be opening the door and letting warm air inside . The damper then closes to keep the right temperature. If you have questions please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze

Can you tell me what a flashing # 4 means on the fresh food display, when I try to set temp.the flashing # 4 keeps coming back. the fridge temp. is too cold and freezes everything.

Hello Bryce,
I found a manual, although I cannot be sure it is for your exact model, it is located HERE. This is what is stated under "Temperature Adjustment"
IF TEMPERATURE DISPLAYS FLASH... If ever you see both temperature displays continously flashing, it may indicate that the control system has detected a performance problem. Call your service representative, who can interpret the flashing message. To maintain temperatures, a fan circulates air in the refrigerator and freezer compartments. For good circulation, do not block cold air vents with food items.
This is located under "Turning the Cooling System On and Off"
TURNING THE COOLING SYSTEM ON AND OFF You can disable the cooling system in your refrigerator by pressing the On/Off button located on the left side of the temperature control panel. To ensure that you do not accidentally turn off the cooling system, the button does not work unless you press and hold it for three seconds. Once you disable the cooling system, all refrigeration to the freezer and fresh food compartments stops. To turn the cooling system back on, you must again press and hold the On/Off button for three more seconds.
If the manual I selected is not the one for your particular machine, there are others located HERE. There are various ones only differing by a "upgrade" letter on the end, perhaps for different models of different manufacturers, produced by the same company.
I hope this is of some help

Temperature does not go below 59 deg. refrigerator side.

Auto Damper models, The Auto Damper model refrigerator has
two controls and both have capillary sensing.
The Auto Damper controls the fresh
food temperature and the Freezer Temperature
Control guides the freezer temperature.
The fresh food compartment temperature
is maintained by a damper assembly located
at the back of the temperature control
housing. Changes in air temperature
cause the damper door to open and close.
A control rod and gear connect the fresh
food control knob to the damper control.
Turning the fresh food control knob to the
COLDEST position increases the flow of
freezer air into the fresh food section. The
freezer compartment temperature control
warms at a faster rate and cools at a slower
rate, increasing the compressor run time
necessary to maintain a satisfied freezer
temperature control.
Turning the fresh food control knob to a
WARMER setting decreases the flow of
chilled air into the fresh food section. The
freezer compartment temperature control
warms at a slower rate and cools at a faster
rate, decreasing the compressor run time
necessary to maintain a satisfied freezer
temperature control.
It is ver possible that the auto damper has failed and will need to be cosidered as a likely cause. Part Number Click here=> 61005971 or 1005641 Auto damper control assembly here is the Service manual=> MSD2756G Instructions can be foun on pages 38 and 39 in your manual. If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, www.pcappliancerepair.com

Top mounted freezer on refrigerator not working

Move the refrigerator to a room that is at least 50 degrees F.

Temps on most refrigerators are regulated by the fresh foods temp. If your garage is let's say 35 degrees, the fresh foods temp will most likely never raise enough to turn the refrigerator on. With the refrigerator never running, the freezer compartment will warm to 35 degrees, resulting in everything melting. Even if garage is a bit warmer, say 45, the refrig will not run long enough for the freezer to maintain a low enough temperture. If the garage temp falls to below freezing, say 20 degrees, the food in the fresh foods compartment will freeze. (outdoor beverage dispensers have internal heaters to prevent product from freezing !) Please don't rate this if not a Fix-Ya for you, as anything else lowers my score.

I have a frigidaire sisde by side refrigerator model # FSC23F7TDW. My Temperature control is reading the the freezer & fresh food temp in centigrade. How do I get the Temp display to read in...

Same Guest as above posting this ... By the way, I have a FLSC238DS5 ... I spent 45 minutes on phone w/Frigidaire this afternoon (Phone#: 706-860-4110 Option 1 --> then Option 3). Didn't get anywhere. They say there are 3 solutions that should change it from C to F: 1) In between LED readouts for "Freezer Temp" and "Fresh Food Temp" there is a mode button that is hidden under the plate that you can press w/your finger OR 2) Hold "Fresh Food Temp" Up Arrow Key down, within 5 Seconds press "Freezer Temp" Up Arrow Key 3 times and it should change C to F or vice verse. Didn't work for me so she said 3rd option was to have a service tech come and diagnose. She said there would be a charge. I am not paying to have somebody come here to resolve this issue. That is when I asked her to escalate it to a supervisor which she did. Hopefully, I get a call back & a solution. Stay tuned ...
