Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause you problems

press f10 during startup , when the bios open, look for the setting "halt on" . it will have a choice of keyboard, all errors or no errors , set it on "no errors" save and reboot. that may fix it.
You could also get another keyboard (neighbors or a new one) and test to see if a new keyboard solves the issue without recovering your system.

4. Press any key to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive when you are prompted to do so.
5. On the Welcome to Setup page, press R.
6. Choose the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
7. Type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, press the Enter key.

if you wanna open whole case then:
Turn the notebook upside-down.
* Remove the 3 Torx T-8 screws located towards the front of the computer.
* Turn the notebook right-side-up.
* Lift the LCD to its upright position.
* Carefully lift up the palmrest making sure not to tug on the mouse's ribbon cable and let it rest on the keyboard. WARNING! If you tug on the cable you will disconnect the mouse and it is NOT EASY to reconnect!
* Remove the 4 Torx T-8 screws that mount the hard drive in place.
* Gently lift the hard drive up a few inches and remove the ribbon cable attached to the hard drive.
* Remove the 4 Torx T-8 screws that mount the hard drive to its bracket.
* Remove the hard drive from its bracket.
* Place the new hard drive into the bracket.
* Attach the 4 Torx T-8 screws that were removed in STEP #8.
* Attach the hard drive ribbon cable to your new hard drive.
* Seat the new hard drive into its compartment.
* Replace the 4 Torx T-8 screws that were removed in STEP #6.
* Replace the palmrest, making sure it snaps down into place.
* Lower the LCD.
* Turn the notebook upside-down.
* Replace the 3 Torx T-8 screws that were removed in STEP #2.
if you just wanna open HDD case then just follow selecting above instruction.
And for HDD size.
if depends on your using perpose:
if it's for general use then 80-100 GB is enough if its for graphic or gaming propose then you need to consider more than 200 GB and RAM too.

Yes up to 3.2Ghz with same Bus speed. cache doesnt matter.
Extreme editions and some 3.2Ghz/3.4Ghz chips will need you to flash the BIOS
