When I turn on my Saeco, the grinder immediately starts by itself and continues unless I turn the machine off again. I am not touching the grind/dispense button, just the on button. Any suggestions?

The exit from the grinter to the grup it is blocked. There is a plastic tupe that it is probably broken. To clean that tube and exit you must unscrew the machine and remove the top side of the grinter.
If the problem is only just stuck then you should try to rutn the gringing adjustment to more gross grinding and first try to remove all remain coffee beans from grinder, with the use of avacuum cleaner try to clean everything from the grinder beans and grined coffee. Then try to make a coffee if it continue to be stuck turn for more gross coffee grinding clean with vacuum and try again is the grinder is only stuck then this will work if after all these the grinder does not turn then you will need to remove it and also you might need to replace it.
Hi, I had this same problem. Call Saeco and they will e-mail you detailed instructions on how to clean the grinder (2 page pdf file). The directions were great and it fixed our machine. Ours kept telling us to add beans, and the grinder continued to spin. It wouldn't load the beans into the grinder. once we cleaned it (completely) it worked fine.
Hello, This may be the solution for you: having removed the ceramic grinder to clean out the unit, one of the wires on the grinder had become removed (the "center wire") on the connector. The 2 outside wires were sufficient to give me the illusion that the grinder was connected correctly, however it would only run for a half second and then coast to an annoying stop.
Check all 3 wires that connect to the grinder and make sure they are making contact.
Hi You have a micro switch on the doser that is in need of a replacement. It is a special micro switch that is just for the doser. It is very sensitive. If the micro switch is not activated the grinder will run until it times out, but the coffee will fill the brew unit and that could break the brew drive.
Your grinder needs cleaning- are you using oily beans and/or storing beans in refrig/freezer? Both are a problem for grinder. Also, grinder should not be set to "fine"- it will definitely cause clogging and the situation you point out.. After celaning grinder, will need to re-set it.
If you take off the bean hopper then you can see the grinder. You can turn the ring anti clockwise to get the knife out.
When you put it in again you have to turn the ring clockwise to the end then you take it back 14 step and then the grinder is in middle position. Hope this will help you
