Fax machine jams or stops loading document for a copy or sending fax

When trying to make a copy of a document, the document loads a small amount and then a grinding gear sound is made. The fax machine then draws in a blank piece of copier paper and spits out a blank copy. Sounds like a feeder mechanism problem, but not sure how to fix it and if it's cheap?

When we try to fax one or more sheets of paper, the paper will begin to feed through but stops after about an inch goes in. Then the machine tells us that it is jammed. Sometimes when we push the paper down it will feed through. After replacing the drum one time, it worked fine for about one month then began the process all over again. Cannot afford to continue to buy new drums. Any suggestions and if we cannot fix it ourselves, what would be the approx. cost to have it fixed? Would it be better to just buy a new fax machine? This one is about 5 years old. Thank you

Whenever i send a fax, the machine confirms by viewing 'TRANSMITTING OK' but the addressee receives a blank document

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting.

It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty.

To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly.

It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.

Work Center Pro 575 always gets paper jams

If a document jam occurs during a transmission, the message "DOCUMENT JAM" is displayed. If this occurs, follow the procedure below. It is recommended that a duplicate from a copier, of the jammed document be used to reduce the chance of a jam when resending the document.
See Chapter 3, "Loading Documents" for document specifications and recommendations which may help avoid paper jams.
Note: The power can be left ON when clearing a paper jam.
Typical Causes of Document Jams
Recommended Procedure
The document is fed at an angle.
Adjust the Document Guides to the edges of the
document.
The document paper is too thin or too thick.
Make a duplicate using a copier and use the copy
as the sending document.

Remove the tape or make a duplicate using a copier and use the copy as the sending document.
The Control Panel Cover is not fully closed.
Close the Control Panel Cover fully.
The document is stapled. Remove the staple(s), or make a duplicate using a copier and use the copy as the sending document.
Basic Troubleshooting
1. Remove all documents from the Document Support.
2. Open the Control Panel Cover.
3. Remove the document jam. Remove any pieces of paper, paper clips, or staples that may have caused the jam.

Can't fax or copy on brother mfc3240c machine

Sounds like you may have a small obstruction in the scanner feed. This would inhibit making copies and sending faxes. Lift this section up slightly to inspect for small pieces of paper or dust. Blowing it out with compressed air would also be a good idea.

Can't send or receive fax

Your product must be accidently set to copy mode instead of fax mode and when it is, it actually expects a document to be loaded in the tray to "scan/copy" so change to fax mode again and try to sent the document. This should fix your problem.

If you do want to make a copy, make sure a doc. is loaded and press start copy to do so.
