My printer will only take letter paper now for some reason.   It only "occasionally" will take a greeting card stock.   This is very frustrating!   How can I fix this?

After 3 years of use and great performance, my printer won't print anything. It won't take in the paper and says it's not loaded correctly.

I haven't used my printer for 6 months as I needed new cartridges (and was really slack) and have only had it for about 9 months total - it was brand new. Now, when I try to print something it says paper is not loaded correctly - and it IS. What a joke.

These aren't helping, I'm afraid. I've tried cleaning the roller with window cleaner as suggested but the printer craps out even before the rollers start rolling and trying to grip - 'media not loaded correctly', grrrrrrrr! Any more ideas out there?

The problem seems to be extreme sensitivity of the printer to dust. The printer picks up dust from the paper, and once enough dust has accumulated, the printer just won't feed any more paper. This can happen after only a few sheets of dusty paper go through, and it gets serious with heavy stock.

They guys at have a lot of good ideas for Epson printer problem solving. They have suggested spraying Windex (C) on a sheet of paper and feeding it through the printer to clean off the dust. This works, but there's the chance that the wet paper can tear and leave a piece inside the feed path. Bad joss.

Instead of that, I clean the offending roller. Standing in front of the printer, look down into the feed path. You'll see a grey roller, about 5/8" wide, about 1-3/4" to the left of the right edge of the paper. With no paper in the printer, press the paper feed button--the second button from the right. You'll see that grey roller go around two times as it tries to pick up the paper that's not there. Dust on that grey roller seems to be the problem.

Take a piece of cloth, wrap a layer around your index finger, spray Windex on the cloth that covers your fingerprint, reach that finger into the paper path so the wet cloth rests on the roller, and press the paper feed button. Don't let your finger get dragged into the wedge of the paper path. You'll feel the roller go around two times as it rubs against the cloth. For good measure, dry the roller by wrapping a dry cloth around your index finger and repeating the process. This always works for me, and it's pretty simple to do.

Another thing I've done is wipe the dust from the front surface of the paper before I feed it into the printer. This helps a lot, but the Windex on a cloth method is the ultimate cure.

My Epson R1800  does this and has since I got it.
Solution #1 - Put your finger on top of card stock, just the right amount of weight will make it feed.  Frustrating, yes, but in a pinch it helps.  You may have to do this several times to get it to feed.
Solution #2 - I was told I need to feed it from the back.  I didn't understand this until I found a slot for feeding rolls of paper or canvas.  I haven't been able to try this because I have move it to a more open area and don't have that at this time.
Good Luck!

I have this problem after using fine art paper. As someone said previously the problem appears to be dust on the rollers to which this printer seems very susceptible. I have found that cleaning them with a little bit of Ethanol - I use a baby tooth brush - and then running a few sheets of ordinary paper through does the trick very nicely.

Hope this helps.

I know at my workplace, they say if you leave the paper out of the wrapper, it gets humidity in it & our copy machine won't work properly. They suggested leaving the paper in the wrapper until ready to load more paper. Also, you might try holding the paper in one hand & taking your thumb and going thru the paper as if looking thru it for a particular page. Good luck! Julie

How do I print cardstock with Samsung ML-2510?

I found a manual for your printer here:

and under print media, it suggests limits of 60 to 163 g/m2 for the 2 trays. If you get some 160 g/sm2 card which is quite readily available, I think you will find it much lighter than the Avery business cards card, which from memory come in around the 200 - 220 g/sm2 level.
Even Avery quote this card as "heavyweight card stock", and although the say will print on all laser printers, it's my experience that they do not. Only on a laser with a flat paper path.

The printer keeps saying that the paper isn't loaded, and it's not catching the paper to send it through. How do I get it to grab the paper, and why is it saying there's no paper loaded?

Please check for a lever on the area where paper goes out? most all in one printer from epson has this lever where you can toggle to grab paper or envelope.

Hope this helps

Iron on transfers keep jamming

Make sure you have the size corrrect on the tray setting, if you have to you can create a custom size paper.
Also set the paper or media type to Heavy 2. Or heavyweight 2.

Printer has problem grabbing certain papers

i have an r1800 as well and i solved this very easily.
usually most epson papers come with a sheet feed cleaning page- a thick piece of paper, same size as the rest, with an adhesive strip in one area. ya peel off the protective coating and put this sheet in and it rubs against the wheel and grabs off lint and stuff. I have done this and it sorta works, but mostly, i think its rather inadequate. plus, not all papers come with this sheet.

so what i did was, when the printer tries to grab a page and doesnt load one and its in the error mode, remove all the paper, and get a cloth wet with isopropyl alcohol. reach in there and set it lightly against the wheel and press the paper button. the printer will try to load another sheet and it will make all of it's usual noise, and the wheel will spin, be sure it's getting wiped with the alcohol. do this three times. then let it dry. reload the paper, and voila!

What that is saying is that somewhere, most likely in a print job, either the paper tray settings or the settings on the driver are incorrect.
What you need to do is look at the machine paper tray settings and see if they all say the proper size and paper type, and that they match the driver settings.
An example. See that the letter tray settings are 8 1/2 x11 plain paper on the machine and driver. Be for example that the driver doesnt say plain paper and the machine bond, or recycled, or heavyweight. They MUST match or you will receive that message.
The paper SIZE snd TYPE must match.

Won't feed paper

when you say ''heavy weight'' do you mean thin card etc.
Most printers dont like to use thicker paper. does it make a noise. like gears slipping or crunching when it is trying to feed. if this is the case, then the feed gears maybe worn.

Card making

This machine will only print certain sizes as borderless. A5 is not one of them. You can use the following media with this feature: Matte Paper - Heavyweight: A4, Letter Premium Glossy Photo Paper:A4, Letter, 5 x 7", 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6", 8 x 10" Photo Paper:A4 Premium Semigloss Photo Paper:A4, Letter, 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6" Glossy Photo Paper:Letter, 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6" As you can see A5 is not in the list, therefor you will not be able to print A5 borderless via the normal means.
