Brake does not engage

The brake on my Bugaboo Chameleon stroller does not engage. I've contacted the company and they may send a new brake but I have no idea how to replace. Any suggestions?

The brake disengages using the button. if it is forced the mechanism slips. its fairly straightforward to take it apart with a screwdriver. clean the plastic parts, put it back together right and screw it back on. then all you need to do is show granny how to work it (again) to prevent it happening again.

Try pushing the brake handle a bit further to get it to engage fully, ours only locks the brakes in the furthest handle position.

My brake broke after just 3 weeks of use. Called Bugaboo, and they're sending me a new frame (supposedly they don't ship out parts, just complete assemblies). They said all I have to do is swap my wheels and fabrics over, and ship them back the old frame. Sounds easy enough. On a side note, I had originally brought the stroller back to my place of purchase, anf their display stroller had a busted brake as well.

You can ask the company how to replace the brake. It shouldnt be too hard. If you know someone who is handy they will be able to help you with the instructions they give you.

I need a brake level for a bugaboo camelon tried to repair internal parts and spring and it is all jammed up and not salvagable. I simply need a resource for a new lever

If the lever is not broken and the teeth still have their points and engage well with the matching teeth on the fixed lever bracket it should be repairable. It is fiddly to get all the parts lined up and assembled most likely you've got the brake cable wedged. If you do need a brake lever Bugaboo won't help they only sell the whole chassis. If you have the older wing-nut white lever model you will get back some of the $400 new chassis cost in better resale value. Other wise check out eBay for old chassis with other problems but good brake parts. Here's my link about Bugaboo brakes www.fixya.com/support/r7805449-fix_bugaboo_brake

Brake on my chameleon keeps releasing too easily. When the brake is applied and you push the pram it releases too easily, so basically doesnt work. any ideas?

Hi,

This sounds like the cogs within the braking system are broken, If you visit www.bugaboo.com you will be able to make contact and purchase a new brake repair kit that should solve the issue.

Hope this helps.

The brake button on my bugaboo chameleon is jammed and won't release therefore the brake won't work , what an i do

Hi,

Your best bet is to contact www.bugaboo.com for a brake assembly replacement. If the break is permanently in the 'on' position, then gently push it forward (as if to put in on) whilst pushing the white release button, this should release the mechanism. If this is still within it's warranty, see your retailer for help.,

I hope this helps.

Bugaboo Hand Brake Mechanism

I have easily solved this problem here in Brazil, where there are no Bugaboo retailers or assistance. I just opened the brake lever case by unscrewing it and fixed the white piece in its correct position. It's very easy to figure it out.
The only special care you have to take is not to lose the spring that is inside it.
I've read the solution here in this site wherelse.
