P50hdm hello,do you know how to trouble shoot the y and z boards on the vizio p50hdm?

    first of all thanks so much for replying. The TV has no picture at all or sound. all my boards are made by LG. thanks again for your help.

Ok first i need to know is the TV showing anything at all or just a blank screen ? And if you know what the Y or Z board is who is the manufactured of the plasma panel is ?

    In plasma tvs your if its the same as other manufactures the board on the left and right are the Y and X boards they control the display.

    If you dont have sound also then its not your Y or X board. its probably your main board ssb ( usually the main board that the av/hdmi/coaxial all plug into.

The power amplifier chip (which goes "pop" when it goes bad) may be located on the board where the IR sensor is. Sometimes (but not always) you can make the TV come on by holding the power button in _until_ the TV comes on. But that usually only works when the chip is "going" bad. If you heard the pop, it's probably shot. Also, check for a fuse on _any_ of the boards, and possibly a main fuse at the back of the TV.

Vizio P50HDM Plasma
Check and replace damaged component/s at it main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Do asearch by type in the brand name of your device at its search box.

Picture went out on Vizio P50HDM
Check you voltages before just swapping out boards. Although a YSUS is common for no picture, so is your upper and lower Y Buffer boards or the panel itself. Check youe -VSC voltage. Does it look like it is being loaded down? If so then your YSUS is not the problem. You can run the set with just the upper or lower Y Buffer boards untill the load is gone. That will let you know wich board to replace.

Picture went out on p50hdm Vizio Plazma tv after loud POP
It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.

Vizio p50hdm red flashing pixels
Try to adjust the Vs voltage on the power supply by lower it a little bit or increase it a little bit. It will help to decrease the red pixel flashing.

Vizio P50HDM No Picture/No Sound
replace the sustainer boards should correct this problem. New sustainer boards may cause red and green pixilation. If this happen, replace control board and TV is as good as new.
