a couple of ways to do that 1) if you have the recovery CDs supplied with the PC - then you can use these - put the CD into the drive and when it boots follow the instructions 2) If you have a recovery partition on the laptop - have a read here to see if you have one http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=recovery+to+factory 3) This link shows you how to use the partition http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?soid=2291088&pf=true basically as the PC boots TAP F8 key - from the menu that appears choose "repair your computer"

Testimonial: "tnx i just remembered it never came with a recovery cd but it did come with toshiba recovery disc creator, might give it a try wen i get some cd's."

Format the drive, then install an operating system such as xp, or windows 7 .... it should install most of the correct drivers. If you have the original disks that came with the computer, use those. You may have to go to the manufactures website to find the exact drivers for the video and sound cards., but that should pretty much return it to factory settings. If you are really picky and have the bucks, you can contact TOSHIBA for the original disks.
