I just realized you said 4 FEET not 4 INCHES. I suspect the boat is ruined because it will be hard to restore the strenght to the boat.I just realized you said 4 FEET not 4 INCHES. I suspect the boat is ruined because it will be hard to restore the strenght to the boat.

hi is the hull made of fiberglass, if so you can normally buy these type of repair kits from car spares shops, they include fibre glass resin and sealer, good look.
I used ABS, PVC combination plumbers glue, the kind they use to put plastic waste pipe together, to patch up 2 small holes in my plastic pelican boat. It seems to melt on, so far so good
It depends on the material of the hull. If it is Fiberglass then buy a small auto or boat repair fibreglass kit and follow instructions in the kit. . If it is one of the engineering thermoplastics like High density Polyethylene ABS or Polypropylene I would try and find somone who can weld it with the appropriate material. This would be done by carefully shaping the plastic away from the crack to form a "V" shaped recess and then filling the gap with the appropriate filler rod usually using a hot air blower designed for the job.
in the nose of the boat right next to the handle theres a funny looking switch if you stand the boat on its nose and flip the switch it will let the water out.
But...in my personal opinion it keeps the hull a little lower to the water and the paddles deeper...
V out the cracks with a grinder, cut fiberglass matting with an overlap of about half an inch. pre-cut 6 more pieces gradually stepping overlap to 1 1/2 inch starting with smallest piece soak in resin and place over v'd out crack, once all pieces are in place press out any air bubbles. takes a while to dry. once dry sand flat with 36 grit then 80 and 150. place a gelcoat on top
