Question about Fuji FinePix A500 Digital Camera

4 Answers

Focus error I am from the Caribbean Island of St.Kitts and I was on holiday in London, England in August 2006 and I bought this camera. It worked wonderfully and I took plenty pictures. I had no problems at all with it until now. When the camera was turned on there was a sound coming from the lens area. The lens are open and will not close. On the screen there is the warning display "focus error." Can I get a solution to fixing this problem

When the camera was turned on, it said focus error and the lens makes a noise and does not go back inside the camera anymore.

My aunt bought a Fuji Cam A500 or 400. It had a zoom error and she got it fixed where she bought it. then, after a month, it had the same problem again. but my aunt hasn't brought it to its dealer yet.

After the basics (cleaning the lens, replacing the batteries, etc.), try dropping the camera on a carpeted area from about 2-3 feet. It worked for my Fuji A500 and 90% of the responders on the link. Everything on the web said it would cost ~$100 to fix. I was in the process of researching new cameras to buy and had nothing to lose by dropping it on the floor.
The error may be caused by debris in the zoom mechanism preventing it from working. Dropping the camera loosens the debris and voila!

Carpet dropping worked for me....10th try...finally started putting a little force behind it on a linoleum surface and did it 4-5 times in a row on all angles...zoomed right out!

I can't believe it! It actually worked! You do have to drop the camera with it turned on, though. Thanks for the advice!!!

I also have this problem. It is obviously the cog inside that is stripped but I am planning on just going to get a new one, since it was a gift. I like the camera otherwise though...

SOURCE: focus error

hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out.Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage. thank u rate me!!!

Re holidays accrued.

Your 28 days holiday is free holidays (assuming you have not including predetermined holidays - i.e public holidays)

28 days divide by 12 months = 2.333 days

Your holiday year cannot be April to April as this is 13 months - so I have assumed it is April to March, or it could be May to April - This will affect how many holidays you have earnt upto August.

Multliply the 2.33 days per month by the number of months until your holiday in August. The calculation your employer is using may take into account you have to earn full days by the end of the month before you take a holiday.

2.33 days X 4 months to end of July = 9 days
2.33 days X 5 months to end of August - 11 days.

You may have to exclude the public holidays if this is included in your annual allowance
